The scripts that Bishal was writing were programs that were to be used in help identifying him bugs. Bishal wasn't stupid enough to go around and start hacking people or companies and earn money the wrong way.
Bishal connected to the cafe wifi and started to write the scripts. The Advanced-level hacking skills had also increased his level of computer programming skill to Intermediate-level. After all, hacking and programming weren't that different. You need a deep level of computer language skills in order to manipulate the programs to do what you want it to do.
The whole process took 2 hours. Bishal hadn't even joined any bounty platforms or anything but used all this time to write a few scripts and tens of sub scripts. This was going to be his armor and weapon, he still had to fight.
The table where Bishal was sitting at had a few empty cups of tea, an ashtray filled with at least 10 cigarette butts and a plate full of momo(dumplings) that he had just ordered.
Bishal didn't have to go around checking vulnerabilities and earn lots and lots of money. Bishal had already planned on a sum of $50,000. Bishal was going to earn this amount and then use it to invest in the stock market to get the following sum.
As for how much time, it would take Bishal to earn $50,000 by bug hunting, he never considered this problem. Bishal even believed that he could earn this amount of money in just 1-2 days. This was how confident he was in himself and the program he had written.
Bishal had initially decided on joining any of the bug bounty websites and start working on the programs in there. He finally decided not to do so. Bishal selected a few companies i.e. Dropbox, Pinterest, Google and Facebook. He was pretty sure he might find some bugs in at least two or three of these companies. These companies could even pay him a good amount which was one of the main reasons he decided to do so.
Bishal pushed his laptop away and ate the momo that Nikki had just placed on the table. Nikki saw that Bishal had pushed away his laptop and came to him while saying, "What are you doing? So busy?"
"Yea, it's some work."
"I can lend you some money if you need it urgently.", Nikki said with a concerned expression on her face. Nikki offered help because she had known Bishal for quite some time.
Bishal raised his head and looked at Nikki in front of him while saying, "There's no need. I can handle things. Thank you for asking, didi."
Bishal just stayed there and started checking for vulnerabilities and carried on his work. It wasn't just a matter of few seconds but by the end of it, Bishal had spend 5 more hours looking for vulnerabilities, writing reports and emailing them to the respective companies.
Bishal knew it would take time for them to reply back and even more time for them to wire the money. Bishal had submitted a total of 38 bugs. Quite a few of these bugs were very critical and could affect the whole system if used carefully enough.
Most of these bugs were found in Dropbox and Pinterest. Google and Facebook had relatively fewer bugs but the bugs in these two were of very critical or high level that would normally not be spotted by people unless looked closely enough.
Bishal paid for the tea, cigarettes and the momo he had. It cost him 5 dollars.(Seriously, that's pushing it, tbh. It doesn't even cost 5 dollars. At least not at the place where I go.)
Bishal didn't go home. Bishal didn't really have any friends other than the high school friends that he was still close with. The situation at home limited him from going out with friends and make 'bonds' with them.
'System, transfer 500 dollars to my account.'
[Ding.. Withdrawing 500 dollars..]
[Ding.. Transferring 500 dollars to NMB Bank account.]
[Ding.. Transfer successful.]
Ding. Bishal got a message on his phone saying that 500 dollars had been transferred to his account. Bishal then called his friend, Rakesh.
"Rakesh, where are you?"
"I just got out of college. Where are you?"
"I'm here at New Baneshwor. Both of you come over here and then let's go have something to eat."
"Okay, Ashish and I are coming."
Bishal took this time and went to a computer store nearby. Bishal was still in his college uniform so he had to go home to change his clothes anyway.
"Peshal bro, I need extra RAM in this thing.", Bishal said as he put the laptop in front of the shop owner. The owner's name was Peshal and Bishal had known him quite some time. All his computer supplies were bought from this shop and Peshal was his neighbor.
"How much more?"
"4GB more. Also, exchange the Hard disk for a new SSD."
"Seems like someone just got paid."
"Yea, The payment for a project I recently did came in today."
"Good. Good. Work hard and take care of aunty."
"I will, bro. How much will all of it take?"
"Let's see. 50 dollars for the RAM. Which SSD do you want?"
"1 TB."
"What? How much did you even make?"
"Enough."
"That's another 210 dollars. So altogether 260 dollars. You'll have to wait, though. Nobody really orders the 1TB SSD, so I don't have any in stock. I'll have to go get them. You can only get your laptop tomorrow."
"It's okay. I'm not in a hurry. Tomorrow, it is. I'll transfer you the money."
"Here.", Peshal passed a QR code. Bishal scanned the code and transferred the money using the online banking app.
Bishal then headed home. His mom was still in the shop. Bishal had picked up one kilogram of meat on the way back home. Meat is not really consumed daily. Only occasionally and mainly on special occasions. I won't give you any health conscious BS, it's just expensive and second reason being religion.
"Mamu, why don't you close the shop early today?"
"Yea, I'm going to close in a while. Did you bring the meat?"
"Yea, I did. Rakesh and Ashish are going to be here soon. I'll go get some drinks after changing. Is sister home yet?"
"Yea, she's back. Probably in her room."
Bishal had been maintaining a pretty good distance from his mom. After all, he stunk because of all the cigarettes that he had during the day. Bishal went to his room, got changed and went into the bathroom to have a bath.
