After the interview, it was back to the hotel with Eleanor for training. We strolled back to the hotel, went into lift and went to the basement.
It was the biggest room I'd ever seen in my entire life, filled with deadly weapons and a camouflage corner. I had no experience killing or hunting in my life. I picked up a knife and walked to the bag. I held the knife in my hand and felt the grip. My hand hook as I swung back. I viciously swung forward, the knife cutting the bag in half. I moved onto the next bag, this time with a new knife.
"Try what you see people to in the normal games," somebody from behind me said.
I turned around to see my best friend, Tori, who won the Husband Games last year without killing anybody. I dropped the knife and ran to her, hugging her tightly.
"You're my trainer?" I asked her.
"Mentor," she corrected. "We were late with mentors this year, but here I am!"
I stared at her in shock. My best friend ever was my mentor. This will be memorable. If I can remember it.
"Go on, do the knife thingy," she smiled.
I jumped up, twirled around, stuck the knife into where the heart should be and made a straight line right down the bag. She raised her eyebrow. I knew what she wanted. I walked over to the bow and arrow, wondering how. I remembered seeing someone do it a few years ago. I got the string and pulled back slowly. I let go and the arrow went in the wrong direction.
"Damn," I muttered.
"Well, archery may not be your thing but you can try something else. Knifes are perfect for you, but the section I love most is camouflage. Easy, perfect and you don't have to kill girls for husbands," Tori smiled.
Tori and I walked over to camouflage, talking about George Shelley, her husband.
"He is just perfect!" she exclaimed. I smiled weakly. I might not make it home alive. If I do, nothing would matter. My future husband would probably be awful. We'd have to live in Sellet, be poor and die while fighting. I just don't wanna live anymore. But I said I'd win this. For Jess. I have to. And I will.
"Were you even listening?" Tori said. "George knows who will be the husands! He wouldn't tell me because he knew I'd tell you but apparently, they are really funny!"
"Oh... great," I laughed weakly.
We were in camouflage for about 2 hours, learning all kinds of things. I don't know why we have to die for a husband. What was the point? Lots of girls had to each year. I couldn't stand it. None of it made sense.
I learned how to camouflage with what comes out the other end and to be honest, it was interesting. Disgusting though, covering your face with it. If I was very desperate, I would.
Tori and I finally got out of the training after 2 and a half hours, just in time for dinner. We walked into to the room and everybody was seated. They were all chatting, until a look of jealousy crossed their face. I had the most mentally stable mentor.
