I woke up to the sound of birds chirping. It was in the distamce, but still made me wake up.

I knew the song they sung. It was a song known famously in all of Bonming. I knew it well. 'One' was the song. At the time it was created, nobody in Bonming was creative. 'One' has been passed on for generations. It's the only thing that has been passed down through generations.

I stopped thinking and went into action. I packed my bag, putting in the knife bag and bringing one. I looked for the tallest tree near me and something caught my eye. The tree with the birds in the distance. It was the tallest tree. Brown spots showed through the green leaves. I got my balance and swung onto the next branch, swinging up onto it.

I shook the tree a bit, so I made a bridge with my body. My arms clung to the opposite branch my feet were hanging on to. I let my feet go, swinging onto a low branch. I climbed up as high as possible and leaped off the tree as gently as I could.

"Don't fall," I whispered to myself. "Do. Not. Fall."

My arms just reached the tree when 2 unusual birds pecked at my hands, causing me to fall. I threw my knife and it went through both birds before hitting the trunk. I hurried out of the tree, grabbing my knife and walking on. The trees are dangerous. Lots of people try to hide but get killed by the smarter people. A siren sounded once meaning one person died. I knew it sounded 5 times last night. 5 people died. 6 people are down, 9 left to go.

I could hear a blood thirsty roar near me... behind me. There was no rules about cannibals. They wanted to take it out a few years ago but they didn't. So today, I get to be killed AND eaten. How amazing. I jumped up onto the top of the tree, looking for who it is. Paula. She had no one with her so I hopped behind the tree with the knife in my hand. I put the birds in my bag. She was getting nearer. Nearer.

She screamed loudly when my knife sunk deep into her heart. I ran through the trees, off the path. My hands were trembling. I remembered the knife. I ran back and grabbed it, running again. The alarm sounded. 8. The Sewtas will turn on each other meaning 6. One more... Harriet. I ran on and on, until my legs couldn't take it. I slid on mud. The mud was soft and spreadable. I quickly rolled around in the mud. It was still soft, so I caked my face and hair with it and lay down. I couldn't do this for long. The Sewtas mighn't turn on each other. That leaves 8 people. I heard someone coming and shut my eyes. They knew I was here. This would be impossible to lose. I felt them get me in the leg with an arrow. I gripped my knife, opened my eyes and cut their legs off. They fell and I decided I couldn't kill her. She looked inoccent, even for hitting m with an arrow. I plucked it out of my leg and gave it to her, covering her with mud. She didn't refuse. I carried her about a metre to the mud and set her down.

"Thank you," she whispered.

"No problem," I replied, hurrying away.
