What is Sibuna?!

What is Sibuna?

Wow, the big question is so early on, but one I know we need to tackle immediately.

Sibuna (Anubis backwards, I know I am a little genius) is a unique group of individuals who all resided at Anubis House at Anum Academy.

Technically, the group started with Nina and Camilla when they met Sarah Frobisher-Smythe (you will learn more about her and her family later, so don't worry). However, we became an official group when Fabian and I – Amber Millington – joined them in their quest. So, the first of many and the start of a path none of us could have imagined was destined for us.

To put everything into simple terms, Sibuna is an organisation dedicated to solving the tasks left by the gods (even if it just started as us trying to find the conspiracy of the House of Anubis.) Gods are tricky beings, and I don't fully understand them. Thankfully, it's not my duty to understand them, but mainly to support them as those with direct connections try to understand them.

We started out as six key members: Nina Martin, Fabian Rutter, Camilla Rutter, Patricia Williamson, Alfie Lewis, and the ever-fabulous me, Amber Millington. However, we expanded from then on, adding two more official members, Eddie Miller and KT Rush, as time went on.

We also have two official Sibuna Temps – Jerome Clarke and Joy Mercer – who help out and know of the club but have not gone through the ritual needed to become an official member.

Something I shall get onto now.

There is one key thing needed to become an official Sibuna, which is the initiation ritual. Each member has to give up a precious item that they themselves hold in high regard and burn it as a sacrifice to the gods. Take me, for example; I burned one of the best photos of myself that has been taken. Fabian burned some nerdy science book of his, Camilla burned a necklace her grandfather gave her, Nina gave up her lucky mascot, and Alfie gave up his jester hat. Patricia gave up her signed vinal record of some rock band she loves. I'm not 100% sure what KT and Eddie sacrificed, but Camilla tells me it was something to do with food for Eddie and a shirt of some kind for KT? I just knew it was important, and they went through with the ceremony.

The first initial imitation rituals took place at the burnt tree in the woods. Still, Eddie and KT's ritual took place in Cam's lab, so it needs to happen in a place of importance for Sibuna.

The ritual is simple. First, each member brings something of value to be sacrificed and throws it into the fire. Then, they need to recite the sacred vow.

"I, (Full Name), being of sound mind, promise to protect the secrets of Anubis house and stand by my fellow club members (Full names of club members)."

After that, the leader of Sibuna will then make the initiation official by saying,

"These are our sacred vows. Let no man or woman tear them asunder."

After that, everyone else welcomed the new members into the group by saying 'Sibuna' before placing their right hand over their right eye.

After that, you are officially a Sibuna – it's a membership for life, and you are in for so much fun. As I said, the world of the gods is madness, unlike anything you could imagine.
