Staring into the neon abyss of lights known as New Kaiser, was a lone high schooler leaning on the metal railing of a high-rise building. This boy was 17-year-old Ryan Paxiston. He didn't really appreciate his last name, in his opinion it didn't quite roll off the tongue as well as other people's last names, so he told his friends to refer to him as "Ryan Pax". A duly noted Transformers reference. After all, Ryan was a huge nerd growing up but now, he was a shell of his old self. Nowadays, he popped crystals and got into fights easily. But none, were ever started by him directly. It was always the other person.
Unlike him, his parents did like their family name. It was unique and made them stand out. His parents weren't very strict, but being part of the 5th Generation were completely against him roaming the streets of the city at night. But he didn't care about their opinion, he was 17 after all, he didn't have time to worry about what his parents thought. All he every really had time for was balancing school, and after school freetime. He was better at the latter.
After a while, his gaze began to be redirected to a group of teenagers, 2 boys and 2 girls below him. His white sweatshirt made him immediately visible to these people which was made even more apparent when one of the boys wearing a black jacket who looked the same age as him, looked up, snarled, and gave a threatening glare. Ryan diverted his gaze away from the group until the boy had refocused on the girl right next him wearing scantly clad clothing. Ryan glanced. He saw the boy wrap his arm around the girl's waist and pull her in closer to his side. The boy grinned and grabbed the girls butt. The girl tried to to pull away but the boy kept his arm around her, firmly. She was clearly uncomfortable with the situation. The other girl, clearly in high-school, walked to the side of the other boy and cuddled up against him like they were a couple or something. But Ryan didn't doubt the girls were hookers or some sluts from the nearby brothel. Ryan scoffed. He looked away as the group strolled into an alleyway. Ryan got a bad feeling about the situation and began to rush down the stairs of the building. At the bottom, he located the apartment alley and ran in. He couldn't believe what he saw. The boy in the jacket, was pushing the girl up against the hard concrete wall. He grasped her wrist firmly above her head as she tried to pull away. Ryan looked to the other "couple" and saw them intimately making out with each other.
"How bout' we do something naughty"? The boy asked.
The girl spit in his face "Jack-ass let me go!" He made his grip firmer.
"Ah, come one, just once... I'll be gentle" the boy whispered in her ear.
The girl's eyes began to tear up as the boy leaned in closer. This is when Ryan had enough he rushed over to the boy and punched him dead in the face only avoiding nearly breaking his nose. The boy fell to the ground on his ass.
"What the fuck?!" He shouted, "who the fuck do you think you are?!".
Ryan looked over to the girl now freed from the idiots grasp. "Go..." he said under his breath.
The girl darted out of the alley in tears. Ryan wiped his fist of the blood and the boy did the same to his lips.
"You really wanna do this?" The boy asked.
Ryan was just about to reach for his self-defense knife given to him by is father when he realized what was on the boys neck. An iron choker with a screen on the side that read "14". This device was known as a Justice. It was placed around civilian inmates necks to monitor their criminal activity within' the city and was a symbol of fear and danger to the New Generation.
Before Ryan could think about his next move, the boy reached into the inner pocket of his jacket. He pulled out a pistol and aimed the iron sights directly at Ryan's forehead. Ryan, making a quick decision, noticed a metal staircase just beyond the boy with the gun. He ran and made it up the stairs but, the boy was right behind him.
"You better stop runnin' you sone of a bitch!" The boy shouted.
Ryan ran to the roof and leaped onto the next building flipping to catch a landing. The boy took a shot from the roof and missed. Ryan continued running until he saw a dumpster right at the bottom of the lowest building. He ran and didn't stop. The boy was still chasing him. Ryan jumped off just in time but the boy jumped as well. They landed in the dumpster. The boys tried locating each other in the abyss of garbage bags until they noticed blue and red lights shining on them. They looked up to see two lightly armored military police patrol-men shining flashlights on their filthy faces.

After the incident the boys were taken to the nearest police department. They cooperated well and didn't resist knowing that if they did, a worse fate than just a visit would be in store for them.
"Ryan Paxiston" the voice struggled with pronouncing his last name. "no offenses, no criminal record, and no history with the police" he told Ryan.
The man wore a police inform and looked to be in his 30's.
"Yes sir, that's correct" Ryan responded.
"Did I ask you to speak?" The man said, putting away Ryan's civilian record.
"No sir" Ryan said.
"And... Xander Rulon... 14 offenses, and a heavy criminal record" The man addressed the boy right next to Ryan.
"That's right." Xander said under his breath.
Xander had fear in his eyes. The likes of which Ryan had not seen before. As Xander was beginning to get shaky, the man asked
"You know what this means Xander?",
Xander answered with "Yes sir" and began to turn around shakily with his nape visible to the man.
The man reached into his desk and pulled out a metal case. The man opened the box and within it was a small cylinder device. He removed it but, when he touched it a key sprouted from the base of the device. He walked over to Xander and put the key in his Justice twisting it until the screen went from reading "14" to now reading "15". Xander turned back around.
"Ok you boys you're are free to go, just sign there and you'll be on you're way" the man plopped two papers on his desk.
The boys signed them and walked out of the man's office. Xander looked particularly pissed off by Ryan. He grabbed him by the collar tightly, "don't ever come around me again". They walked out of the station and to their surprise both had rides of their own. Xander walked to a car wear another teenage boy was in the drivers seat.
"You fucking stink," the boy remarked "Any more?" He asked silently.
   "Shut up..." Xander answered.
Ryan also had a ride. In the car was his freind Ezekiel who was also his age.
"You reek of shit". He scowled
   "I know". Ryan responded irritated
" ya good bro?" He asked with a smile,
   "Yeah, I'm fine..." Ryan said.
"Really, you don't look too good, and why were you here of all places?" Ezekiel asked with amusement.
"None of your business ok, drive off" Ryan replied.
Ezekiel laughed "it's fine, just remember us New Generation ain't got time to be fooling with the crims" Ezekiel reminded him.
"Yeah, I know" Ryan responded staring out the stained glass window.
