"Mom I'm home . " I said "In the kitchen. " She said . I walked into the kitchen and saw my mom at the table with envelopes of mail all over the place . I came over and gave her a kiss on the cheek and said. "Wheres Nikki ?" I asked. "Upstairs doing her homework I hope . " She said. "Anything from her school today? " I asked. "No but I got a note from her teacher saying that if her grades don't improve she's going to fail " She told me . I sighed , "You want me to talk to her?" I asked. "Not right now but when you go up can you ?" She asked . "Of course . " I said sitting down. "So how was your day ?" She asked. "Good our first football game is coming up soon and I'm starting . " I told her. She looked at me concerned , "Honey listen I don't think its a good idea that you play football again . " She told me . "Mom we talked about this the doctor said I was okay . " I said. "Honey I know but after the accident your back may not be able to handle it what happens if you get tackle and you do permenit damage to your back?" She asked me. "Mom the chances of that happening are very slim. " I said. "Honey the last time you played football you got hurt I just don't want that to happen again . " she said . "I know and it won't I promise , I'll be careful I've been taking my meds. " I said. "Are you sure this is what you want ? " she asked. "I'm positve. " I said. She smirked , "Your just as stubborn as your father was . " She told me. "Yeah but I got that from you too. " I said. "I love you . " She told me . "I love you too mom. " I said and gave her a hug .
