Chapter 17 - The Dinner part 2

(Friday)
Finns pov :
I was in my room puting on my tie when Kurt came into my room , "Hey Finn leaving are you ready? " He asked. "Yeah. " I said nervously. I then went down stairs and we left . We got to Rachels house and we all walked up to the door and I rang it .
The door opened at there was Rachels mom she smiled at me , "Hi you must be Finn Hudson. " She said . "Yes Mrs.Berry these are for you . " I said and handed her tulips. "Oh thank you Finn and you can call me Shelby. Please come in all of you I'll go get Rachel please make yourselfs comfortable. " She said and we came in and sat down in the living room . 2 minutes later Rachel walked in and said , "Hi Mr.and Mrs.Hummel my name is Rachel Berry it is so nice to meet the both of you . " She told them . They both smiled and said , "Hi I'm Carol , Finns mom its so nice to meet you Finn has said so many good things about you . " She told Rachel. Rachel smiled at me and I blushed a little and then Burt stood up and said , "Hi Rachel my name is Burt Hummel I'm Finns step dad . " he told her . "Well its nice to meet you both . " She said. "Hey girl . " Kurt said . "Hi Kurt. " She said and hugged him then came over to me and sat down next me holding my hand . Rachels mom came in and went up to my parents , "Burt , Carol can I get you anything to drink ? " She asked. "No thank you Shelby. " my mother said . "No thank you. " Burt said and then she sat down on her other couch . We all sat there for a moment and it was quiet then my mom looked at Rachel and said , "So Rachel Finn tells me that your on the football team. " She said. "Yeah I'm actually the quarterback well along with Finn . " She said. "And how did you start with football? " Burt asked her . "Well when I was little my dad and I would always play football together , you see my dad was a marine so he was away alot so after he died a few years ago I decided to play football in a way to always remember him . " She told her . My mom smiled and said , "That is so sweet , Finns dad died when he was only three months old in the army . " She told Rachel . Rachel looked at me and said , "You never told me your dad was in the army . " I sighed , "Yeah well I didn't think you care . " I said. "Of course I care . " She said. "Dinners ready !" Shelby said.
5 minutes later we were all at the dinner table eating spaghetti when my mom said , "So Shelby what do you do for a living ? " "Well I'm a teacher over at Carmel high school. " She said. " Wow thats a really good school . " My mom said . "Well before mom was a teacher she used to be on broadway. " Rachel said . "Oh wow thats amazing why did you stop ?" Kurt asked . "Well after I had Rachel I decided to take a break since her father was always gone and then I had my other daughter Nikki who is at her friends house so I never really got back to the stage . " She said . "Well what shows were in you in ? " Kurt asked . "Well I was in Wicked , into the woods , les miserables , and Grease . " she said. "I see where Rachel gets her love of Broadway. " I said. "Well Rachel is a very talented girl Finn. " She said . "Oh stop Finn , your the one with the real talent . " Rachel told me . "Yeah right have you seen me dance ? " I asked sarcastically. "I think your dancing is very cute . " I said. "Why thank you . " I said.  "So Rachel what are your plans after graduation? " My mom asked her . "Well I wanna go to NYADA to learn about music and the arts and then be on broadway of course. " She said. "Does NYADA do football scholarships ?" My mom asked . "Yeah they do actually. " Rachel said . "Hmmm interesting. "  My mom said . "Well Rachel I think thats wonderful. " Burt said . At the end of the night everyone was ready to go . I was out side with Rachel on the porch when she looked at me and said , "So did you have a nice time tonight?" She asked me.  " Yeah I do you think your mom liked me ? " I asked. She smiled,  "She loved you , you were great I just wish you could meet my dad . " Rachel said. I smiled and held her cheek , "I'm sure I would have loved him . And for what it's worth I'm pretty sure Burt and my mom loved you too. " I told her.  She smiled and just as were about to kiss Kurt came out and said , "Hey love birds it's time to go . " We chuckled and then Rachel went over to Kurt and gave him a hug goodbye and then My mom, Shelby,  and Burt came out . Rachel smiled and my mom and Burt , "Carol , Burt , it was wonderful meeting the both of you I can see where Finn gets his charm from I hope we can do this again . " She told them. My mom smiled and gave her a hug, "Rachel , Shelby,  its been a pleasure meeting you both , and Rachel I'm so happy you and Finn are together I can tell that you two are good for eachother. " She said. I then went up to Shelby and said, "Mrs. Berry it was a delight meeting you . " She smiled and said , "Finn I told you call me Shelby Mrs.Berry is my mother-in-law." She joked . "But I must admit it was a pleasure meeting you and your family I can tell that you make Rachel happy and if my girls are happy I'm happy . " She said and hugged me . My mom , Burt, and Kurt were in the car . Rachel looked at me and said , "Good night Finn . " and gave me a kiss. "Good night Rachel . " I said and left with a warm feeling in my heart .
