DAKOTA'S POV
Oliver and I leave the garden and go back to the unit to finalize everything. This shitshow's about to be over once and for all. Devon and Drew have been keeping me updated throughout this ordeal. I could not be any more grateful to them. They have kept me sane throughout all this. Keeping my head in business and not as much on the personal feelings of it all has kept me grounded.
The meeting goes rather quickly without any major hiccups. I'm surprised how willing Sky is to be working with us but that could be because he's family. That will never stop fucking surprising me.
I'm concerned about how forthright Oliver is and jumping right into things. Maybe it does run in the blood. Ollie's a natural at this and that scares me. He probably will make it in this life afterall. I had my doubts, but tonight erased them all.
The rest of the day goes off without a hitch. We were doing last minute checks individually with everyone and I forgot to check in on Ollie throughout all of this. I walk over to his room and find him half asleep. I just stand in the doorway like I did the first time I came to see him.
He barely looks up at me. He's so brave for going through with this. Like how the fuck even did he completely agree no catches. I get that all of this is to save Blair, but it still bugs me that we couldn't come up with an easier option. It pains me to watch Ollie go unconscious again. Like I get that he needs to be out of it but this is even more torture.
Not long, Oliver is completely out. I leave his room and go talk to Sky, "This better work and not be for nothing."
"It'll work. I promise. Miller won't know the difference."
"He created a freakin drug and manipulated his family with it. How will he not be any wiser?"
With all the medical stuff attached to him, that's convincing enough. In addition to him not being awake makes it even better."
"You better be right, or you're dead."
Sky just shrugs and walks off. For this to work we can't have any mess ups. I walk around the hospital to see if our security detail has left. I walk around to make sure there's nothing out of place. Everything is as it should be. The calm before the storm, and this storm is like a hurricane heading to shore.
After some time pacing the halls, Momma Vasi and my dad are all that are left here. Dad just looks normal. Momma Vasi looks like she's in disbelief and shock. That's when I notice Sky with someone that resembles Oliver a lot.
"You've got some sick nerve showing up here after all the shit you've caused," I hear Momma Vasi yelling at the man.
"He's my son, too. I wanted to see for myself," the man says calmly.
"Your bastard ass is supposed to be in fuckin prison!"
"You know that's not how you're supposed to talk to your husband," the man says caught off guard.
"You stopped being my husband the day they arrested you the last time."
Sky interjects, "Enough you too! Y'all can fight another time. Right now Oliver's the one fighting for his life. Let's have one battle at a time. "
They both seem to concede at that statement. Sky ushers Miller off to Ollie's room. I walk over to Momma Vasi to console her, "He can't do anything to any of us in here." She sighs and retreats into the waiting room.
I get a little bit nervous when I hear doctors rushing to Oliver's room. But he has almost coded before, it could just be faulty oxygen again or something similar. They seem to file out of his room as quickly as they went in.
Miller and Sky come back out and stop in front of me. Miller starts off, "So you're the partner I've heard about?'
I hesitate before replying, "That would be me." Before I can even finish speaking, Miller right hooks me square in the jaw. Now, I see why Oliver was always afraid. After the impact, I taste blood and spit it out my mouth.
Next thing I know, Miller is being escorted off the premises with Sky and hospital security. Guess that went better than planned.
