It was just another ordinary day in the perfect life of Jessica Hart. Groaning in protest, She awoke to the ear piercing sound of her alarm. In a groggy state, she clumsily lifted herself off the inviting grasp of her covers muttering a string of curse words.
While padding off to the bathroom she glanced up at the mirror. Her eyes were glazed over with heavy bags underneath. Her hair was in a state of disarray and her skin was a stark white. She quickly stepped into the shower, eager to feel the warm embrace of the water.
As she shampooed, washed, and shaved her body she was struck with an uneasy feeling as if she was being watched. Shrugging off the thought, she went about her business. When she was all ready to go to school she was greeted by her mother, "Good morning sweetheart! I made you breakfast, I know it's late so you can grab it and head to school. I hope you have a good day love you!" Looking down at the compassionate smile her mother was giving her she quickly grabbed breakfast and headed out the door to her car.
Again the feeling of unease and anxiety crept up on her. Glancing nervously around her, she met a pair of dark brown eyes warily watching her from across the street. The owner of these eyes was a boy that looked to be about her age, 16. He had chocolate brown hair, and piercing eyes that held so much depth she was taken back. He flashed her a breathtaking smile showing a row of pristine white teeth. She quickly smiled back and waved as she tried to ignore the pit in her stomach. Anxious to leave, she put the car in drive and hurriedly sped down the road.
A wave of relief flooded through her as she arrived at the school. She walked towards her awaiting friends. "Hey Jessica how are you?" Katie's shrill voice questioned. Jessica shrugged "I'm ok, I did nothing this weekend as usual." Hannah's eyes widened as she observed the newest stranger to the school was walking towards her disregarding the previous conversation. Jessica gasped, it was her new neighbor. "Who is that cutie?" Hannah asked with hint of curiosity. As he passed he threw a suggestive wink Jessica's way. She tried best to hide her fear but her body betrayed her as a trail of shivers ran down her spine.
"He was totally just checking you out!" Katie shrieked. Jessica rolled her eyes and laughed nervously. " I don't know but he kind've gives me the creeps." she stated averting her eyes from the shocked expressions her friends wore. "He is so cute though! You should go out with him, I would if I had the chance." Hannah gushed. "I have more important things to worry about right now." Jessica blankly stated desperately hoping her blunt response would end the conversation.
The group entered the school and rushed to their classes muttering their goodbyes just before the bell rang, promising to meet up at lunch. It turns out the new boy was in half of Jessica's classes. He appeared in her physics class and later her English class too.
At this point she was exhausted, the day seemed to only go by slower. She watched the clock tick slowly and asked to go to the bathroom just to get away from the boredom. As she took a hall pass and walked towards the end of the hall she heard footsteps. Wipping her head around, she looked to see who was there.
She stumbled to her feet and broke out into a run towards the bathroom but before she knew it she was pinned against the wall. Struggling to evade the person's grip she punched their stomach. She looked up to meet the same pair of menacing eyes she saw this morning. A look of anger flashed in his eyes before he took a fistful of her hair and slammed her head against the locker. Doing anything to get away she kicked and scratched but she slowly slipped into darkness. The last thing she saw was his face turn up into a devilish smile.
