Y/N POV:

"Y/n! Wake up! You have to go to school!" hearing her mother, emiko, yell woke y/n up from her deep sleep. she wasn't a big fan of her mom's loudness, but she was just excited,
y/n could tell.

their dog, kida, had hopped up onto the bed and began barking softly. when y/n didn't move, he had started to lick her face, and her eyes snapped open. "ew, kida! stop, that's disgusting...!" she giggled slightly and softly shoved him away from her face, and he huffed at her before hopping off the bed and nudging the bedroom door open more.

"ugh, gross." she wipes her cheek with the sleeve of her pajama shirt, and stand up out of bed. i should head to the bathroom.
And on my way there, she has stubbed her toe, she was still half asleep.
"ow! ah, shi—"

"don't you dare!" emiko yelled from the other room, stopping the word from leaving yet/n. it didn't hurt a lot, but it definitely surprised her. "sorry...! oh, i hate this house..." she made her way to the bathroom to do her little morning routine.
like brush her hair and teeth, and also wash her face extra well since kida had licked her.

when she had finished, she made her way downstairs. "oh, there you are! here, come eat and get dressed!" emiko said, feeling extra enthusiastic for some reason today.

"yeah, i know." y/n says as she sits down in her seat, waiting patiently for her mom to place a plate of food infront of her. "you made food? you usually don't make breakfast." y/n says once emiko gives her the plate of food.

"wha— i was just doing something nice for you, be grateful!" emiko had a small joking pout on her face. "is it because of that cami guy?" cami was the name of a guy emiko had been seeing.

"uhh... who?" she tried to play dumb and turned away from her daughter, feeling weirdly embarrassed y/n had figured that out so quick.

"i'm guessing that means yes." y/n hummed, trying to finish up her food so she could go to school. "well, you guessed wrong...! i would never change what i do for no man...!"

"you are such a liar." y/n teases and stands up once she finishes her breakfast, brining her stuff over to the sink.

"ooh, girl. just go get ready, you'll be late...!" emiko ushers, softly nudging y/n out the room who was quick to go back to her bedroom.

she had found a nice little outfit appropriate for a little sixth grader. she grabbed her backpack and went back downstairs.

"so, y/n, i—" emiko paused as she looked over to her daughter, who was wearing a familiar outfit. "oh."

"what? are my clothes dirty?" she asks, looking down at her clothes and she has made sure they weren't dirty before putting them on.

"no, no. it's just... those are my old clothes. my daddy got them for me." emiko recalls, smiling fondly at the memory of her younger self wearing that exact outfit to school.

"oh. i'm sorry, i didn't realize...! i can go change." y/n apologized and began to turn back towards her room.

"no, no! it looks amazing on you." emiko stopped y/n from going back upstairs. "definitely your style." she had even complimented y/n, and that put her at ease.

"thank you..." y/n always got embarrassed when she got compliments, i'm pretty sure everyone did. but it was nice hearing it from her mom, even though her mom said she looked nice in everything.
