«so you're telling me that thing is real?» a white haired boy looked up from his phone to look at his, now frowning, friend.
«yeah, i pretty much think it's real even if i only saw its eye, it was horrible honestly...» the girl sighed, taking a seat beside the male «and what's more horrible is the fact that almost everyone act as if they don't know anything.»
the bell rang followed by the students entering the classroom, both signaling the start of a new school day.❝ 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐏 . ❞
«are you scared?» it was now lunch break, and the two got outside the building to eat peacefully under a lonely tree behind it.
«not really, maybe only a little, i mean...why are we keeping weapons for self defense? that thing must be dangerous if they even made us practice.»
«now that i think about it, aren't those weapons made specifically for it?»
«yeah? someone said that normal bullets are useless, so they made specific bullets for such a creature.»
the boy kept quiet for a while, and then turned around to face his best friend.
«something's off, [y/n].»«no shit seishiro, there's something lurking around our houses, and we don't know anything about it.»
after that, the conversation dropped, leaving the two students at finishing their food quickly; as the boy focused on his phone again, the girl's head was full of thoughts.
she remembered that day as if it was yesterday, but she couldn't possibly have known that news would change her life a month later.
it was nearly six in the morning and she couldn't sleep anymore, so she turned the tv on and just watched what was going on until an official communication from the government invaded the screen.
the girl didn't really pay attention to that, but now she couldn't explain how she remembered the exact words said on the screen.«good morning, this is the japanese government, from today the entire population will be equipped with special weapons...i know this goes against our morals as a country based on peace, but we have an important reason this time.
in the last few days there have been sightings of an unknown creature, and we decided to define it as a monster.
we believe it's extremely dangerous as our army couldn't even get near it, so we demand you to stay indoors as much as possible and to use the said weapons if attacked by the monster.»at first everyone were kinda startled by the sudden news, the streets were empty at every hour and most of the workers, for example, decided to sleep at their workplace.
but as time passed by, the mentioned monster was never spotted by a single person in the entire country, which made people feel safe, as if it was just a legend; nonetheless, the government didn't talk about it anymore, but no one showed up to take back the weapons either.«shiro, have you seen reo in the last few weeks? because i haven't, and honestly i'm getting worried.» the boy shook his head as if to say 'no'.
«maybe he changed school.»
«i doubt it, he wouldn't do something like that without even telling his best friends a goodbye.»
«his parents didn't like him hanging out with us, it could be a reason.»
the girl sighed, heading with her friend inside the building, as the break was now finished; she seemed to be, at least, a bit more relaxed than the day before.
