jeongin had gotten to know everyone in the room. they all seemed pretty chill and looked like they had no problem with him being present there. all the boys were talking with each other about random things that jeongin didn't understand, however everyone was on edge due to the condition minho was in once they brought him there. no one knew how he was but they all hoped that changbin, the one who was currently taking care of minho, would be able to help him out and save his life. he had medical skills anyways, as hyunjin had said.
"hey jeongin." chan approached the younger and sat next to him with a bowl of soup in his hands. "wanna eat? it's late and you haven't had dinner yet so i assumed that you must be hungry."
jeongin smiled politely and took the bowl from chan's hands. "thank you. but i'm not really hungry to be honest."
the older male nodded understandably and helped the dark-haired male place the soup on the table. "you're worried aren't you?"
"of course i am. i was so scared when i found him." jeongin muttered and chan rubbed his shoulder sympathetically.
"he'll be okay. changbin is great at taking care of injuries, even if they are as serious as minho's. i'm sure he'll be able to save him now and it's all thanks to you that found him right on time."
jeongin blushed. "i'm so glad i found him. if i hadn't seen him in that alley he probably wouldn't be here right now, right?"
chan shook his head. "probably not."
all of a sudden, the door from the room changbin and minho were in opened widely and the shorter male appeared on the door frame with blood covering his hoodie. all the boys stood up and ceased their conversations, focusing all their attention on changbin.
"how is he?" seungmin asked as he gulped but changbin smiled reassuringly and let out a sigh of relief.
"he's asleep but he's not in danger anymore." the short male replied and everyone else in the room silently cheered. "however" his tone suddenly got serious and all boys turned to look at him again with focused eyes.
"he went through a lot. he has two broken ribs, a concussion, a fractured ankle and strangled wrists. thankfully, his private parts are untouched which means that he didn't have to go through THAT as well. but the marks on his skin and the blood in his nails show that he fought a lot with whoever did this to him. he tried to escape but the other person or people were probably much stronger than him, hence they beat him."
jeongin felt a pang on his chest at the shorter man's words and the frown he had on his face got deeper. his eyes suddenly sprang with tiny crystal tears and without even realizing the boy had started sobbing softly. chan's hands were quickly placed above his shoulders and his body got pulled into a tight hug which he instantly reciprocated.
"he's gonna be okay jeongin, don't worry." chan reassured him and rubbed his back sympathetically as the younger cried into his chest.
he couldn't tell whether he was crying out of fear of what had happened to minho or happiness and relief that the boy was okay. whatever the reason was though, jeongin couldn't control the tears that kept falling from his eyes like waterfalls.
"shh" chan tightened his arms around him before slowly pulling himself away, making the younger boy stand in front of him and lock eyes with his own ones.
the younger sniffled and tried to wipe his tears with his sleeves but chan beat him to it, placing his cold fingers on his face and getting rid of the small crystals that thankfully decreased as time passed by.
"come on, do you wanna go see him?" chan asked softly and the younger boy nodded hesitantly. of course he wanted to see him, he just didn't know how his body would react to seeing the boy he liked - in a friendly way always - so much.
the older of the boys, which jeongin assumed was also the leader of whatever the group they were was, slowly walked with him towards the room minho was in and opened the door in front of him, letting the younger make his way in. jeongin was tentative at first but he eventually let himself walk in, his heart beat increasing rapidly the closer he got to the bed minho was laying on.
and then, there he was, laying down on the mattress snuggled up in a warm blanket that covered his whole body apart from his head.
he looked so peaceful. minho was always silent but he had never looked so peaceful before. jeongin felt himself grinning slightly as relief filled his chest.
minho was fine. and he was fine because of him.
"hey hyung." jeongin mattered softly and gently placed his hand on minho's cheek, caressing his soft, bruised skin carefully. "i'm glad you're alright." he whispered and felt a tear leaving his eye that he instantly wiped with his finger.
"please wake up soon"
with that, the younger slowly got up from the floor where he had kneeled down besides minho and turned to look at chan who was staring at both boys with a fond smile.
"let's go back to the others, shall we?" chan questioned and the younger nodded, glancing at minho one last time before exiting the room with the older man.
once they were out again, chan turned to walk in the living room but jeongin grabbed his wrist, ceasing him.
"chan hyung" he whispered quietly and said male turned to look at him with a soft but curious gaze.
"what is it jeongin?"
"i have questions."
chan smiled and chuckled softly, bringing one of his hands on the boy's hair and shuffling it playfully. "of course you do. come on, i'm gonna answer all your questions."
"even the ones regarding minho?"
chan sighed but nodded nonetheless. "even these ones. because i know minho isn't gonna tell you anything himself and you deserve to know the truth about some stuff."
jeongin grinned and followed behind chan who was leading him towards his bedroom where he'd tell him everything he needed to know.
he'd finally be able to understand what was going on with his friend that he so badly adored and cared about.

heyyy guys long time no see huh :') i apologize for not updating.. a lot happened this year and i kind of abandoned my books heh but i'm back now i guess and i'll update again soon since i have already pre written about two or three chapters anyways, i hope y'all are fine <3 i love you all :3
