Y/n Pov:
'It's there wedding day today'
I witnessed the castle being adorned with lights and decorations. All of the princes and princesses from far off lands came and the ones who claimed to be our 'friends' were dancing and partying and between them all was the King, all red as the teases and hugs continued.
"Honey! You're here. Come look at the arrangements. Princess Yeji and her few close ones are about to come. I'm old and you have to manage this big event." Not even bothering to answer her, I walked away.
Not long after, The bride arrived. On a white royal horse, she was settled elegantly. Her red glimmering gown was almost touching the ground and her long charcoal hair were competing. Her face was hidden by veil yet she didn't fail to captivate every eye In the room? She looked absolutely breathtaking! There was no denying that.Tae's friend kept the teasing going on as the bride was led down of the horse by her maids.
"So my King, now it's time unveil her and see your soon to be wife's beautiful face!"
Smiling, Taehyung whispered in her ear to which she giggled and took off her veil.
"How does she look?"
He didn't answer but looked down. 'Her beauty indeed could make even a king speechless.'
"You can't just be mum! We want to know if the king likes his bride."
Letting out an airy, embarrassed laugh he replied something that shattered my heart "She's looks stunning."And then the tradions started.
All the couples were dancing around the groom and bride, who were slow dancing in the middle of the ball. He was so shy to even look at her. His was all red and his arms were cupping her waist so gently.I remember when it was our wedding. How we kept giggling and dancing even after the Queen declared that we proceed to the next tradition. The Royal servants were all panicked and frantically searching for the instrumentalist to stop the music but they didn't know it was Taehyung's best friend, who was hidden under the catering table, playing piano like there was no tomorrow!
The same one was now making a beautiful rhythm.
Blinking away the moisture in my eyes, I stood tall and continued to examine the scene.
It seemed like everyone forgot I even was there.
Knowing very well that the intimate tradions will start soon, I walked away.My feet eventually led me to the terrace filled with memories.
I went to the railing and looked at the stars above. They seemed to be less shiny today.
Each star held a memory. And I could easily read each of one of them, wishing that I had a time machine so I could travel back to those memories and get lost in them forever."You were the witnesses of the promise he made right here...that I would remain the only one in his heart and you were here when we kissed for the first time and you were the only ones here when he proposed me at this place. And you are still here when he broke all the promises and married someone else." I poured my heart to my only companions left.
--
Each distant cheer thumped my heart, pushing it deep and deep into the pit of darkness. Drowning in pure loss, I was sitting down on the marble tiles and gazing at the sky in defeat. I always knew about the tears of happiness but no one told me about the smiles of sorrows. Well experiences teaches and now I know they exist. Standing up and wiping my tears with a smile lingering on my face, I made a decision.
I chose my self respect over my duty and love.
Deciding to head to my chamber and pack my clothes, I turned around but was blocked by a broad chest. I turned back around in a flash, afraid that he would see the tears...scared that he would understand about my plans in a flash if he looked Into my eyes and scared that I would change my mind if I look into his.
I felt his hands sliding around my waist. Securing me in his arms, he rested his head on my shoulder."Why are you here? Go back to your wedding ball."
"It's too late at night. I told them all to go home."
"Then you go too. Your wife must be waiting."
He didn't reply. He didn't leave either. And I lost the courage to push him away. I wanted to be in his arms for one last time. Be his...for one last time.
But, it was getting harder to not let the tears out of my eyes, to not let out a sob. So I had to let go. And I did. I pushed him back."Go."
I heard his footsteps backing away and the door closing.
And that's when I broke down on my knees...------
*Meanwhile*
Taehyung entered the chamber of his new bride. The door was half open and he was about to knock but his eyes fell on the figure by the mirror.
She was applying tint on her feathery lips and admiring herself in the mirror.'She is indeed really pretty.'
Yeri looked up in the mirror to see him smiling hesitantly. She turned around and smiled back. Smile widening when he held her hands.
