The birds shot up into the air as the four packs trekked into the clearing. I guess they knew too. My father was the leader of the pack, and my mother was his luna. I was only a pup when this happened, but I remember it like it was yesterday.

As I heard the earsplitting howl, my white fur puffed out. I raced past the others in my pack that didn't go to the meeting. We were all forced to stay in a cave, in case something happened. As I got to the opening, I paused. "A fight." I whispered under my breath. I lifted my paw, ready to run to the meeting area and join the fight, when the guard wolf growled a warning. I turned my head and growled back, showing my puny white teeth. My head snapped back sharply, and I lifted my paw again, now with my ears back in annoyance. That time he just glared at me, his golden eyes almost resembling a challenge. I wasn't waiting anymore, so I walked back in with my head down. With my head still down, my eyes flashed to look around for ideas. I thought carefully, now or never. I turned swiftly and with all my power, I sprinted out of the cave and headed to the meeting. I heard the guard wolf bark a faint "Stop!", positive he also bolted after me.

I had outrun the guard wolf successfully and I was by myself now. I was sprinting, but I felt like I was stuck and couldn't move, completely useless to the fight that was happening. As I ran through the woodland, I scented something. That scent stung my nose and horrified me.

Blood.

Racing after the scent, my heart pounded rapidly in my chest and my stomach was in knots. I was terrified just thinking of what I would see. As I raced into the clearing, my heart stopped. I nearly fell over when I saw what was happening.

There was fighting everywhere. I saw all these wolves, from the four different packs, trying to rip each other apart. They're scents blending with each other, confusing me. I spotted wolves from my pack, fighting, and my mom and dad too. The funny thing is that I actually glanced at all of this in a split second. In an instant, I was being thrown by a giant gray wolf. He attacked me untill everything blurred. I clawed and kicked helplessly, only reaching him once. Suddenly the weight I was being crushed by was shoved off me. Then I felt like I was being carried away.

My eyesight cleared soon enough, and I was laying down on some moss in a bramble thicket. I jumped out of the thicket to see the most terrifying thing I'll ever see.

Oak, a large brown wolf was fighting my mother, Frost. He put a paw on her shoulder, and bit her neck viciously. She was coved in blood, and most likely lost too much. She violently collapsed, and my father, Midnight, collapsed the same way. I ran to them and slid to a stop in front of my mom. Tears running down my face, I sat down with them, lucky not being spotted.

"Mom!" I screamed out, sobbing. Burying my face into her fur, I tried to blink the tears away, but they came out harder. "No." I whispered.

"No!" I turned, trying to find Oak in the sea of wolves. I spotted him, and leaped onto his back, doing my best to dodge his attacks. Furiously, I bit his neck. I heard him howl in pain. I don't know why I did, it's not like me, but I felt pleasure in hearing him yell. He shook violently, trying to throw me off, but he was unsuccessful. He shook a second time, and I quickly bit his ear, trying to stay on him. The third and final time he shook, I tore his ear, but fell off him and landed right in front of him on my back.

"Miss your parents aurora?" He sneered. Aurora was my pack's name. "Well, don't worry. You're about to join them!" I swiftly turned over, jumped, and my claws retched across his chest.

"I wouldn't count on it." I said, more to myself. Streams of blood streaked down his fur, and his claws flew across my face. I couldn't see out of my right eye! Another wolf quickly came to my aid, and I limped back to my parents.

"I don't want you to die." I whispered, my muzzle on her muzzle. I closed my eyes, holding back a yell. My dad licked me, trying to make me look at him. I did look. In his eyes was a mixture of emotions. I heard his last breath fade away, like all the emotion in his eyes, leaving him to stare at nothing. I stared back, breaking down. "Dad...?"

"Dawn," I looked at my mom again. "Don't worry, we'll see you again. I know you will take good care of the pack." She rasped. I realized she meant she would see me when I was dead too. I lied down with her for a long time. I'm not sure how long, but I wanted to forever. Tears ran down my face, leaving the  fur there damp.

After a while, the warmth from her body seeped away. My parents were both dead, and I was the new leader of the Aurora Pack.
