BEFORE NARUTO PART ONE —

[Name]'s PERSPECTIVE

Humidity flew through the house, the living room ceiling fan's weak blades weren't enough for the young girl that sprawled on the couch and patiently waited for her mother's return from the store. Refusing to go due to the excruciating heat that exhibited today, she laid sweatily on the couch in a fit.

Options were low, as the young girl wasn't sure how to operate much and would rather not meddle as she knew it would upset her mother. So that opted to find herself walking down the halls of the house before turning to the room in the far right. Her mother's room, that had a better ceiling more powerful ceiling fan.

Flicking the switch that turned on the fan, the girl plopped onto the floor and sighed out in relief to the fan relieving coolness. [Name] once again sprawled out onto the floor, the blankets to her mother's bed to her left beginning to lowly fly around due to the fan speed.

[Name] caught a glimpse of the darkness under the bed, at first she jumped when she saw dust bunnies galore before raising an eyebrow when she saw a flat brownish box under the elevated bed. She had never seen this before? Specifically this box. And from the looks of it, it seemed to have been there for ages, as it had gathered a nice layer of dust on top of it.

Reaching her short arms under the bed, she was barely able to reach the edge of the box that sat in the center of the floor under the bed. She began grappling her small hands onto the box and inching it closer to her before she fully bought it out in the open. Swiping the dust off top, small coughs exited her as the dust began flying around in her face, she looked down at the box with curiosity. It labeled 'O.U'

She wondered for a moment if this was truly the right thing to do? It was her mother's after all and it could've been something that her mother wanted to keep out of her eyesight for the time being. One side of the box had already been slightly peeled open, a small gap allowing a part of a frame to show from the peek. She couldn't stop now,  peeling it open from its already open end. The box top hit the wood floor silently as she examined the contents within the box.

What seemed to have caught her attention were the two photos within the box, one on the right that had a picture of her Mother & a boy she couldn't recognize, Whilst the photo on the left filled with faces she knew none of, 3 kids that looked to be around Itachi & Shisui's ages & a man that seemed to be around her mother's age or even younger, "Who are these people..?" she asked to herself, recognizing that one of the boys in the left frame was the same one in the right frame.

Her hands began to burrow through the box as she came in contact with a pair of orange & blue goggles under the frame. [Name] hadn't heard the sound of the door clicking close from the front of the house, nor the soft voice that called for her. She had been so enthralled with the picture in the box, matching that the goggles belonged to the boy on the left of the frame.

He wore a blue and orange outlined jacket, he had a smile that was similar to Mina's & [Name]'s. She tilted her head in confusion, the other contents in the box seemed to have been of letters and such. "[Name]—" she heard her mother call from the open door of the room before she stopped herself and looked down at the girl. A silence ensued between the two as they locked eyes and her mother caught glimpse of what was in her hand.

"Oh..." her mother had an unreadable expression to her, [Name] wasn't sure what would come next for her snooping. It was just so unreadable. "I-I'm.." [Name] dragged out, her eyes began brimming with tears out of fear. It's like she had unlocked another part of her mother's life she had closed off. [Name]'s mind spiraled of thoughts, unsure of what this all meant to her exactly. Then she noticed.., her mother had a soft smile that appeared on her face before she said, "It seems..you've found your brother's belongings huh?"

"Brother..?"

Mina's PERSPECTIVE

She kept a lot from her daughter. Due to her young age & conception of understanding certain things for her age, she felt it was best to ensure [Name] had a normal childhood unlike herself or her deceased son, Obito. Mina was a young mother to Obito, having not been around the boy much in his earlier year due to being a busy Chunin, he stayed under the care of his paternal grandmother. He grew up not knowing or seeing much about Mina until he graduated from the Academy & even then, it was rare due to Mina & Obito always being deployed out for missions with the ongoing war at the time.

Mina held a lot of regrets upon Obito's death, and upon [Name]'s birth she wanted to find a way to redeem herself into being the mother she wished she was for Obito. Despite Obito passing away 2 years before [Name]'s birth, she had seen a lot of similarities between the two of them, especially their willingness to protect others and she sometimes wondered if maybe his spirit had lived on within the girl.

So it did pain her to tell [Name] about her deceased brother, [Name]'s young conception of death still contented in her mind. And she wondered how her daughter viewed all of this? How did she understand it? Mina assumed that was her fear, that her daughter would turn into a brooding mess if she wasn't allowed to live her own childhood in peace.

That's how a lot of the Uchiha children were while they were young, experienced too much for their young ages, never had an actual childhood, Itachi noticeably had experienced it in her eyes and that's the last thing she wanted for [Name]. "I don't..want to be Hokage or anything but..I hope that I can live up to his wishes somehow." [Name] had said once Mina finished her story about Obito.

"You can. Whatever you do, I'm sure he'll be happy either way. I just know..if he was still here..You two would be having the time of your lives.." She reminisced over what it would be like if there was a full family aspect in the house, despite the two family members family being happy now, she could only imagine how even brighter the house would be. "I..want to.." Mina wanting to tell her daughter something else.., she wasn't sure how to approach the subject though.

'One day soon, I won't be here..' is what she wanted to say, but the thought of it in her mind could only be said. "Never mind..soon I'll tell you..I promise..! No more secrets between us!"

But there was still a lot unsaid, and it wasn't because Mina didn't want to say it or had no idea how to say it, it was because of the unspoken pact agreement the Hyuga's had made between the two clans..
