"Girl are you paying at attention?" Leshawna asks and I begin to pay attention.
"Uh yeah. Sure." I say as I snap back.
"Girl stop lying, I know you were making goo goo eyes at Duncan." She says and I try to think of an excuse, but it's useless. I told Leshawna that I would keep any secrets from her so I gave a sigh.
"You like him don't you?" She asks, but it's not in a mean way. It was in this kind and understanding tone of voice. I bite my lip and nod. She squeals and cups her hands over her mouth.
"Don't go telling people, you're the first person to ever know." I say and she is still smiling.
"Girl I won't tell a soul, but when are you going to tell him?"
"I don't think I ever will, unless him and Courtney break up."
"You HAVE to tell him. What happened to the girl who solely swore to honesty that I know?" She asked. She was right I always talked about how honesty is always the best way to go, and ten I would lie to Duncan. Boy am I a hypocrite or what?

We headed to Debate and Leshawna kept smiling at me and would always point to Duncan and I would roll my eyes. I see him alright, but right now I'm the last person on his mind. Half of classes that he has he is sitting right next to Courtney and the other half are right next to me.

Pretty soon our debate teacher Mr. Hallows, assigned us into pairs of two for a big project. He read out loud the pairs.
"Geoff and Owen, Bridgette and Leshawna, Harold and Beth, Alejandro and Heather, Noah and Eva, Cody and Sierra, Tyler and Lindsay, Sadie and Katie, Justin and Trent, Ezekiel and DJ, Courtney and-" and here he was going to say Duncan.

"How about Courtney and Izzy?" He asked and she began to look disappointed. I think she really wanted to be paired with Duncan, that's when I realized that I hadn't been paired and neither had Duncan.
"And last Duncan and Gwen." I looked over to Duncan and he dropped his pencil. He actually was paying attention to Mr. Hallows. He turned to me and gave me a quick look and turned back to Courtney, rubbing her back slowly. He told us to go to our groups and I walked over to Duncan's table and stood there as he sat with Courtney, hugging her.

"He paired me with the maniac." She kept on whispering. He looked up at me and rolled his eyes, he was finally beginning to understand how over dramatic Courtney was.
"Look you'll survive, and if you don't, then I won't date anyone else for the rest of my life." He said and me and him both knew that was a big lie. It would take some time, but he would have some other girl in his arms if Courtney died. She got out of his grasp, stood up and walked over to Izzy's table. When she sat down in the chair he turned to me and smiled.

"Looks like we're partners." He said all flirty like.
"Don't get to cocky about it." I said and sat next to him. Mr. Hallows explained our assignment which we were studying about feelings. We had to debate if there was such a thing called "true love". After he finished talking I turned to Duncan and we began to talk.
"So what do you think?" I ask him and he turns to me.
"I want to say it's he's wrong, but some part of me wants to say he's right." He says and I chuckle. "I know pretty stupid, right?"
"Actually not really, I think it would kinda be cool that someone was perfectly meant for us, just us and not anyone else." I begin. "However, we would have to cancel out sin for a perfect match because barley anyone can keep a marriage these days."
"I don't think he was talking about marriage, Gwen." He said and chuckled. It became awkward and soon Mr. Hallows came by our table.

"Are we having some trouble Mr. Carter and Ms. Smith?" He said in his big and deep booming voice.
"Um not really, we were just discussing how some marriages don't last anymore, making true love look like a children's story." Duncan said to him, and he look surprised. He probably thought Duncan would roll his eyes and just start talking.

"Class maybe you want to hear Duncan and Gwen if you're a bit lost." He said and the class began to stare at us. I could feel Courtney shooting daggers at me.
"Gwen care to explain what you two were debating?" He asked me and I could feel a lump in my throat. I closed me eyes and begin to speak.
"We were talking how true love seemed too good to be true, and with a bunch of people getting a divorce nowadays, true love seems like something that parents tell us as kids to help us sleep at night. However, it may not exist because you would have to take away all the sin in the world for it to last."
"Well said Ms. Smith." Mr. Halle's replied and walked around the classroom. I could feel Courtney shooting daggers at me like never before. She was probably pipping hot by now. Duncan and I go on talking and pretty soon the class ended. We stood up and grabbed our backpacks. As soon as we got out of our chairs, Courtney grabbed Duncan's arm and gave me an evil smile.

"Well you too had an interesting chat. From what Gwen explained it was like you guys really know a lot about the topic." She said and I could hear the evil rattle through her voice, she could ruin my life in the blink of the eye, and I could tell she was planning on how to do it.
"I guess we watch to many movies, eh Gwen?" Duncan says jokingly, and I smile weakly. I excuse myself from them and went to the girls bathroom. She was going to tell him that I liked him because it was probably so obvious to her. I mean she saw how I looked at him, but he didn't notice. I could imagine Courtney running her hands through his Mohawk, whispering in his ear.
"Gwen has a crush on you."
Then he would stand there, mind blown and would ignore me for the rest of high school. My life would end, I could try to talk to him, but he'll shrug or ignore me. I began to cry and pretty soon Leshawna came in.

"Girl what's wrong?"
"She's going to tell him."
"You don't think she'd be that cruel, do you?"
"It is Courtney, she'll make it all about her somehow. She'll probably say that I was purposely flirting with Duncan to make him break up with her."
"Can I do anything?" She asked and I looked up at her. She hugged me and I began to bawl my eyes out.
"What if he doesn't freak out?" Leshawna asked. I backed up and though to myself. What if he didn't freak out? What if he didn't care or did a dance and broke up with Courtney?

Leshawna took my hand and we headed out of the bathroom. We met up with Bridgette in Calculus.
