Third Person P.O.VMany Years Ago
"Anna, Elsa, Lina! Bedtime soon!" King Agnarr and Queen Iduna call out to their three daughters.
The three year old Princess Lina was sitting in Elsa's lap as they and Anna were playing a game of enchanted forrest.
"Uh oh!" Anna said as she turned one of the snow figures. "The Princess is trapped in the snow goblin's evil spell! "Oh no! Quick, Lina! What should we do!" Elsa asked her youngest sister. "Make a pwince to save her Elsie!" Lina exclaimed causing her two sisters to laugh.
"Great idea Lina!" Anna exclaims reaching over to ruffle her little sisters hair. "And Elsa, make sure the Prince is a fancy one." Elsa waved her hands to create a prince and handed it to Anna. "Oh no! The Prince is trapped too!" Anna gasps as Agnarr and Iduna enter the room. they both smile as they watch their daughters continue to play.
"Who cares about danger when there's love." Anna said making a deep voice for the Prince. She then proceeded to make the Prince and Princess kiss. "Ew Anna!" Elsa said sticking her tongue out while Lina giggled. "Kissing won't save the forrest."
"The lost fairies cry out!" Elsa exclaimed as she grabbed an elephant and made trumpeting sounds. She then grabs a giraffe. "What sound does a giraffe make?" Elsa asks her sisters who only shrug their shoulders in response. "Never mind." Elsa then proceeds to wave her hands again creating a figure of a fairy on a horse. "They wake the Fairy Queen, who breaks the spell, and saves everyone!"
"And they all get married!" Anna exclaimed grabbing the snow figures. "Yay!" Lina cheered clapping her small hands together.
"What are you three playing?" Agnarr questions his daughters. "Enchanted forrest." Anna answered her father before continuing to play with her sisters. Agnarr chuckles as he begins walking towards the bed. "That's like no enchanted forrest I've ever seen."
The three sisters all immediately stop playing upon hearing their father's words. "You've seen an enchanted forrest?" Elsa asked astounded. " Wait what?" Anna questioned. Agnarr turned his head to his daughters. "I have...once."
"Really Papa?" Lina asked with a wide-eyed expression. Agnarr nodded in response. Anna stood up and put her hands on her hips. "And you've never told us this before!" "Well, I could tell you now, if you-" Agnarr suggested before being cut off by the sounds of his daughters climbing on the bed. Lina struggled to get on, so Elsa picked her up and placed her on the bed. Lina giggled then proceeded to crawl next to Anna with Elsa joining them.
"Okay now!" Elsa said coming next to Lina.
"Tell us now!" Anna exclaimed.
"Yeah Papa!" Lina said as she snuggled between her sisters.
Iduna walks over with a worried expression as she begins setting down a book on the night stand. "Are you sure about this?" She questions her husband.
"It's time they knew." Agnarr answers as they sit on the bed. "Anni, Elsie, let's build a big snowman later." Lina whispers to her sisters who both nod their heads excitedly.
"If they can settle and listen." Agnarr exclaims, causing the girls to hold their breaths.
The King smiles as he begins telling the story. " Far away, as north as we can go, stood a very old, and very enchanted forrest."
The three sisters all widen their eyes as Agnarr continues his story. "But its magic wasn't that of goblin spells and lost fairies. It was protected by the most powerful spirits of all..."
"Those of Air...Fire...Water...and Earth."
"But it was also home to the Northuldra people."
"Were the Northuldra magical like me?" Elsa questioned her father.
"No Elsa, they were not magical." Agnarr answered his daughter before continuing. "They just took advantage of the Forrest's gifts."
"Their ways were so... different from ours."
"But still, they promised us friendship. In honor of that friendship, your Grandfather, King Ruenard built a mighty dam to strengthen their waters. It was a gift of peace."
"That's a big gift of peace." Anna commented before letting her father continue the story. "And I was so honored to get to go to the forrest to celebrate it."
"Of course, I was not at all prepared for what the day would bring."
"We let down our guard."
"We were charmed."
"It felt so...magical."
"But something went wrong...they were attacking us."
"It was a brutal battle."
"Your grandfather...was lost."
"The fighting enraged the spirits...they turned their magic against us all."
"There was this...voice. And someone saved me."
"Untold, the spirits then vanish. And a powerful mist covered the forrest, locking everyone out."
"And that night, I came home, King of Arendelle." Agnarr told his daughters before blowing out the candle.
"Woah, Papa. That was epic." Lina exclaimed leaning into Elsa. "Yeah." Anna said resting her head on top of Lina's. "Who ever saved you, I love them."
"I wish I knew who it was." Agnarr explained as Iduna came next to her daughters.
"What happened to the spirits...what's in the forrest now?" Elsa asks.
"I don't know. Agnarr answered. "The mist still stands. No one can get in, and no one has come out since."
"So we're safe." Iduna said as she began playing with Lina's hair.
"Yes." Agnarr said putting his hand on Elsa's arm. "But the forrest could wake again, and we must be prepared for whatever danger it may bring."
"And on that note, how about you three say goodnight to your father." Iduna tells her three daughters.
Lina groaned and sat up. "Aww, but I still have so many questions!" Agnarr chuckled before ruffling Lina's hair. "Save them for another night Lina."
"Why did the Northuldra attack us anyway?" Lina questioned her mother as Agnarr walked out of the room. "Lina does have a point." Anna said agreeing with her little sister. "Who attacks people who bring them gifts?"
"Do you think the forrest will wake again?" Elsa asked as Iduna sat in front of them. The Queen looked off before replying. "Only Ahtohllan knows."
"Ata-Who-what?" Anna repeated the words incorrectly while Lina and Elsa gave confused stares.
Iduna smiled before continuing. "When I was little, my mother would sing a special song about a river called...Ahtohllan. That was said to hold all the answers about the past...about what we are apart of."
"Wow." Anna and Lina breathed out at the same time leaning into each other.
"Will you sing it for us." Elsa asked sitting up.
"Okay." Iduna said moving in-between her daughters. "Cuddle close." Anna sat on one side of Iduna, while Elsa and Lina sat on the other. "Scooch in."
🎵 Iduna: Where the North wind meets the sea
There's a river full of memory
Sleep, my darling, safe and sound
For in this river, all is found. 🎵Continuing to sing, Iduna then picked up a snoring Anna and carried her over to her bed. She then turned over to her other two daughters. She picked Lina up and Elsa got down from the bed and went over to join her mother and sister.
🎵 Iduna:In her waters, deep and true
Lie the answers and a path for you
Dive down deep into her sound
But not too far or you'll be drowned.🎵Iduna used one arm to hold Lina up and put her other arm around Elsa. The three looked out the window as Iduna began singing again.
🎵 Iduna: Yes, she will sing to those who'll hear
And in her song, all magic flows
But can you brave what you most fear?
Can you face what the river knows?Where the North wind meets the sea
There's a mother full of memory
Come, my darling, homeward bound
When all is lost, then all is found. 🎵
