i coughed loudly. my mouth felt so dry. i sat up stiffly and rubbed my eyes. peering around the room with squinted eyes, i found my bag by the door. i scrambled out of bed, nearly tripping over my own feet. i sat on the floor, rummaging through all my old items until something i hadn't even thought about came into view. in that same moment, i heard someone from the deck yell.

"THERE'S A NEW ISLAND UP AHEAD!"

cheers could be heard all throughout the ship, i looked back down into my hand at sabo's transponder snail, and shoved it back in the bag.

i'll probably use it later, i thought and went to go join the crew, as they marveled at a new adventure. the island was far away, yet it still looked huge. i cant wait to see and talk to the people there.

i knew it wouldn't take long to eventually get there, but i just couldn't wait to get some new clothes, even if the mongrels were just gonna send me off. i threw the oversized shirt over my head, leaving me in just a bra, and stalked off to go take a shower. the other crew members started whistling at me, but i knew they wouldn't try anything this time. i'd gotten most of my energy back, so now i could fight.

i closed kid's bedroom door behind me and went straight into the bathroom.

i wrapped the towel around my waist and looked into the mirror, as i brushed my teeth. almost all of the bruising in my face had gone away, but cuts on my neck, as well as my eyebrow had vanished.

i took off the bandages, and ran a clean finger over my shallow new scars.

after i rinsed my mouth out, i threw the bandages away in a small bin and exited the bathroom. i jumped at the sight of kid sitting at his messy desk.

well it is his room, i thought to myself.

i walked over to my bag, that i'd left hidden in the same corner i found it, and dragged it back to the bathroom. i'd forgotten i packed clothes into it before rushing out of my sinking ship.

i pulled the clothes over my skin, feeling comfortable to wear something that actually fit. after taking my skirt out of the bag, something else fell out. sabos transponder snail taunted me once again.

it's not like i can get anywhere with this dog collar on my neck.

i put it back into the bag and finished getting dressed. upon pulling the door open, i flinched. kid stood on the other side with his fist up, it looked like he was going to knock. i stared at him surprised, expecting him to yell at me for something. he wore his usual frown, but he looked stressed out than anything.

his amber eyes scanned my outfit shamelessly, and he lowered his arm. "can i help you?", the question knocked him out his thoughts. he still didn't say anything, instead, he put a hand flat out between us. i was confused, but then i heard the sound of metal hit the ground. the ring on my neck fell off.

"we're almost at the new island, so get your shit together", his eyes scanned my face, as he spoke. i was confused, "i thought i was only still alive, because you wanted money".

"you're alive, cus you won't fucking die", the veins in his head began to bulge, "i don't need you here, so get the fuck out my face the moment we dock". he stared at me for a moment, but i said nothing. i could feel myself begin to grow angry as well and folded my arms across my chest.

"fine"

"fine", he spoke through his teeth and strolled out of the room. i stood there for a moment, going over what had just happened. i was pissed.
