For Princess Lilyhaven Tamriel von Leese, her friend's 'almost' engagement to that man from the other world, Kuro, was a reason to be happy...
"..."
Yes, she should be happy and be supportive of her friend's happiness...
"..."
Damn it! Why do her eyes keep on tearing up? And it won't stop, no matter how hard she wipes it!
"..."
She should be happy because that man...that good person had become Maddie's future partner...
And it hurts...it hurts so much she wants to scream...
"..."
But Lily knew better. She needed not to be swayed by her feelings, for she's the Saint's friend. And she loved Maddie just like a sister...
Still, it's painful...
"...Lily?"
"!!!"
Princess Lilyhaven quickly turned around when she heard her name. However, her hopes were dashed when, instead of that boy from another world, a member of the Paladin Corps appeared.
"Head Maid Lily? Are you okay?" the paladin asked, "I've been calling for you, but you won't hear me."
"My apologies, Lady Renier, I was just thinking of something..."
"I see..." then the paladin reached for something in her pocket, "By the way, a messenger from the Royal Fief of Nerfes gave me this. He told me it is for your eyes only."
"Oh..." Princess Lily had a mixed expression on her face when she was handed the letter from the Royal Fief of Nerfes. The melted-wax seal was the proof that it was the real thing; after all, no one could forge nor copy the coat-of-arms of the von Leese Royal Family of Nerfes...no matter how hard someone tries.
"Well then, I shall take my leave, Head Maid." the paladin then went on her way.
Princess Lilyhaven had her reservations about opening the letter. But after some few moments of hesitation, she decided it would be useless to let it idle for long; she'll eventually read it in the future...
So why not now?
Carefully tearing off the seal, Lily chanted a spell that made the incantation embedded on the paper to disappear. All the letters coming from the members of the von Leese Royal Family were written this way; whether it was a matter concerning national security, or of their private lives.
Lily began reading the contents of the paper she held in her hand.
Dear Princess Lilyhaven...
We know that you've just come back to our kingdom as part of the entourage of Her Holiness, the Great Saint of Chersea. Even though we have talked about this, and you're forbidden to return, we will look past this offense you've committed in exchange that you would never set foot unto our royal lands.
As the head of this regal house, I expect you would comply with our understanding. Please be aware that I've set up border guards to patrol our land's borders, and anyone who'd try to sneak in would be met with punishment...whether a member of this household or not.
Signed, Prince Nicholas Galahad von Leese.
"..."
It took a few more silent moments before Lily noticed her eyes were completely drenched in tears.
"..."
Her hands were shaking, and a great sense of gloom enveloped her heart as she folded the paper from her father and stored it inside her maid uniform's hidden pocket.
"..."
Why...why is this happening to me?
"..."
Maddie? Kuro? Please help me!
"..."
Someone...
However, no one had heard her pleas for help, for those cries were only said inside her heart. Lily wouldn't dare to destroy such a merry occasion on the Saint's recovery and her eventual engagement...
"..."
Princess Lilyhaven could only sob in silence.
