Kabanata 35

Sabay kaming kumain. Wala pa sila Mama at Kuya nang umalis kami ng bahay upang umuwi sa bahay ni Conrad. Ayaw ko sanang sumama dahil marami pa akong kailangan gawin. But I know Lean won't let me. That's why I brought my laptop with me.

She was already sleeping when I got off the shower. I'm wearing my usual silk terno. Nakaupo si Conrad sa kama at nakasandal sa headboard habang may inaasikaso sa iPad niya.

I went to the couch and took my laptop. Kinuha ko rin ang bag ko at walang pasabi na lumabas ng kuwarto. The hallway was already dim. Bumaba ako sa sala. I have to work on the blueprint. Kailangan na iyon ni Engineer bago pa matapos ang buwan na ito.

I arranged my laptop on the coffee table and went to the kitchen for a hot tea. Halos buong bahay ay technology. Including the sink and drawers. I put an exact amount in the mug before pouring hot water.

I went back to the living room only to see Conrad sitting there while looking at my sketch. He looked at me seriously.

"Hindi ka pa matutulog?" Tanong ko at naupo sa tabi niya.

There's a distance between us so it's fine. I put the the mug on the table as I turned the laptop on and opened the software. I felt his stare at me.

"Not sleepy yet. Where is this for? New project?" he seriously said.

I nodded. "Yes. In Davao. It's just a renovation. I don't need to be there. Ipapadala ko na lang iyan," seryosong sambit ko.

Minanipula ko ang aking laptop at humikab. Binalikan ko ang nasimulan na sa files at kinuha ang pen. Conrad sighed beside me and I felt him lean on the sofa.

"You should sleep," I said without looking at him.

"I'll only sleep when you're done," aniya.

Natigilan ako at napatingin sa kaniya. Mapupungay na ang kaniyang mga mata habang nakatitig sa akin. He's topless and only wearing black cotton shorts. Halos matakpan na ng kaniyang buhok ang mga kilay niya. His stubble is a bit thicker now. So unusual.

"Matagal pa ako rito," wika ko.

He nodded. "I don't mind."

I licked my lips and sighed. My heart boomed when his sleepy eyes dropped to my lips. I looked away and started doing my work.

"Kung inaantok ka na, umakyat ka na sa itaas." Sabi ko at pinagpatuloy ang ginagawa.

Seryoso kong nilunod ang sarili sa trabaho. I checked the numbers and some lines on my draft before copying it to my laptop. Hindi ko matapos-tapos ito sa site dahil maingay at lagi akong kinakausap ni Sachiel.

I was about to draw another line when Conrad devoured the remaining distance between us. My lips parted when he put his head on my shoulder and sighed.

"Wake me up when you're done..." namamaos niyang bulong.

My eyes turned hazy. Lumunok ako at pilit siyang nilingon dahilan ng pag-angat niya sa kaniyang ulo. He looks tired and sleepy.

"Late na. Baka maaga ka pa-"

"Wala akong trabaho bukas," aniya, titig na titig sa akin.

I bit my lip and nodded. His lips parted when I tapped my lap. He looked at me with confusion and reluctance. I shrugged.

"Put your head here," I said.

Muli kong binalik ang tingin sa laptop at nagpatuloy sa ginagawa. I protruded my lips when I felt his hair on my lap. He faced my stomach and didn't speak anymore after that.

I drowned myself in work and corrected some parts. I already sent this to my client and he approved the changes. Palugi na kasi ang resort nila dahil sa luma nitong istilo. I gave him a discount which he accepted wholeheartedly.
