She steps through the classroom door. Her golden eyes memorising in the gleaming light beaming rays through the open window at the opposite end of the room. Her long dark brown hair loosely braided back into a plait, with long pieces of lighter hair falling down the sides of her face.

"Class, we have a new student here today at our school. Jessie, all the way from Australia. Please give her a warm welcome."

The whole class lets out a dull "Good morning Jess," but i just find myself staring into her sparkling eyes.

"Jessie, there is a spare seat next to Niall."

I immediatley shoot my hand up into the air, signalling where I am sitting. She tuggs on her bag hanging off her right shoulder and makes her way to the seat next to me. As she sits down I lean over to her and introduce myself. She indroduces herself as well, and it's quite clear she's Australian. I pull myself back up to my desk and once again begin to work. But I keep on being destracted, frequently looking at her. The way she gently pulls back her loose strands of hair behind her ear. The way she so swiftly writes in her text book. And I realise how many of the more popular guys in the class keep passing her notes and checking her out.

After School

As I walk out the school gates I see Jess walking down the same path as me. I begin to walk faster in attempt to catch up with her. She's turning around.

"Oh, hey Niall," she says with a smile.

"H-hey," I stutter, completely dumbfounded. "Do you live around here?" I ask

"Yeah 125 Raithin Road, what about-" I rudley Inturupt her.

"So we're neighbours?" I exclaim.

Her nods her head with a cheeky smile on her face.

As we slowly approach our houses, still talking, we say good bye. We'd see each other next week. I step onto my small porch and dump my back pack outside the door. I walk up stairs to my room, open the door and start playing the guitar. Music is my passion.

Monday

As I make my way out of my front yard I see Jessie coming down her stairs to go to school. I jog up to her front gate and wait until she is outside. Her hair is still braided back into a plait, like it was on Friday. She smiles at me and I melt; I dont know why, but there is something about her.

When we can see the school nearing, and I see all the people swarming in to get into the building before the bell rings, I notice something different about her to all the other Irish girls from my school. The other girls are all fake, they cake on make up and dye their hair. Not to mention how they dress. But Jessie is different. No make up. No Dye. And she wears normal clothes. After all, we are all only 13.

As we walk though the school gates, and waddle past hundreds of sweaty teenagers, people start handing Jessie and I flyers for the school dance held every semester. I barely ever go, because all of the girls are usually, taken, out of my league, or just people you don't want to be associated with. Although this semester, it might be different.

The next few weeks of school fly past. Speedily nearing the dance. I have hesilantly decided not to go. Just because, I know that Jessie would have had plenty of guys asking her to be their date.

I'm sitting on my bed, like usual, playing my guitar, like usual. And then the door bell rings. Greg gets the door, so I sit back down on my bed and continue playing.

"Niall! There's a girl at the door and she says she wants you!" Says Greg in an intimidating tone.

I startle and sit up right on my bed, carefully place my guitar on my bed and run down the stairs to see who 'wants me.'
