Chapter 20
Meo and I ate downstairs as tita Libby already gone back to Lia's room.
I know I had to calm myself and to have an air. I don't want to let my frustration eat me only because Lia chose to push me back on my practices.
“She won't talk to me,” I ran my palm to my face, frustrated while the meal that Meo bought was still right infront of me, untaken.
“Maybe nagulat lang iyon that we're here for this kind ox hour.” Meo commented, taking a spoon of food drive to his mouth.
I shook my head. “We're literally going in here every night.”
“Get her point, dude. You really have practice and you don't need to be here like every night. Worried lang si Lia.”
I let out a breathe. Meo is right. I know Lia is only worried. It's just me who keep pushing the thing to see her all the time.
After having our late dinner, we spent some moments to rest down the cafeteria before going back to the room 207. We arrived and saw tita Libby organizing some things onto the table right beside Lia's bed.
Just to think of jt. We gone so far. I could only remember how I hated her presence before because I believed that she was too annoying to see every moment in my life. Her smiles, laughs and voice were all infuriating in my system, but now they were acting as a beautiful melody of music I could ever hear.
We have gone too far. I never knew that I will love her, otherwise of what I though I could be.
“Ceddirick.”
I looked at tita Libby as she called me. Nakayo lamang siya, nakahalukipkip at diretsong nakatingin lamang sa akin. Her eyes were deep and dominant.
“Can we talk?” mahina niyang tanong, quickly glancing at Lia.
We left Lia with Meo at the couch and went right outside the room. Tita Libby is facing my direction, still crossing her arms. She looked away, hindi mapakali ag kanina pa humihinga ng malalim.
Tita Libby ran her fingertips over her head as she finally looked into my eyes. “You know that she's getting worse, right?”
I clenched my jaw and looked away, to the bare white wall of the hospital I'm in. I let out a deep breathe.
“But I know that she'll be alright some day.” she nodded, looking in the air while convincing herself with the words she said.
I looked down to the floor. We're all believing in that, and we won't stop believing with that.
“Salamat, Ced,”
I slowly lifted my eyes back to tita Libby.
“Thank you for being with Lia. Thank you dahil tinutulungan mo ako sa pagbabantay sa kaniya. I really appreciate how you try your best to check out Lia all the time.”
I was just staring at her, secretly letting myself be confused with the way she talks to me.
“I know how close you are to her, at salamat sa lahat ng concern mo sa kaniya.” she took a deep breathe, swallowing. “But, Ced. Seeing you this way, sleepless and tired doesn't make me feel alright.”
