Lia's body feels so light and fragile in my arms as I carry her up to her bedroom. I lay her down on her bed, then grab the discarded duvet and pillow laying on the ground. Guess my outburst came in handy. I drape the blanket over her, while watching her relaxed features.
I wonder if she'll remember anything when she wakes up.
Once I've set the blanket over her, I slightly lift her head before sliding the pillow beneath.
She doesn't toss around or even twitch a finger. My nerves play with me at her stillness. She's breathing, but I'm worried about whatever Logan gave her. My fingers tingle, eager to punch something just at the thought. He said he gave her a small dosage, or a weak drug, I don't remember, but either way she's taking longer than I'd like to wake up.
The dim moon light shines through the window and hovers over her. Her face is completely relaxed and a few stray hairs cover her cheek. My hand moves involuntarily, but I manage to stop myself, hesitating a few inches from her face. The back of my fingers caress over her skin, brushing the strands away. Her cheeks are as soft as they look. Her skin reminds me of silk.
I don't feel right just leaving her here. She deserves an explanation when she wakes up. I need to make sure she's safe tonight, for her sake more than my own. I'll sleep on the couch and check up on her throughout the night. I doubt I'll be able to get much sleep tonight anyway with my adrenaline so high.
Before leaving the room, I lift her hand to my mouth, gently placing a kiss.
"I'm sorry..." I murmur.
To my surprise her hand lightly tugs mine, pulling me towards her. I lift my knee up against the bed to stop myself from falling on top of her. She's weak and clearly going in and out of consciousness. She turns over to her side, facing away from me. With her still holding onto my hand, I'm forced to get on the bed.
I know I should take my hand back and leave, but part of me just doesn't want to. When have I ever done what I was supposed to?
I curl up next to her, pulling the duvet over me as well. Her bed may be a queen size, but I set her right in the middle, so I'm close to falling off the ledge. I cuddle up closer to her, with my arm still draped over her. I lay like that for a while before darkness consumes me.
Lia
Every inch of my body burns. Sweat tickles every crevice and leads me to believe I'm waking up in hell. My eyes fly open, only to be blinded by brightness. My eyes slowly adjust and I realise I'm in no other than my bedroom. I reach out to throw off the boiling hot covers, but find myself restricted. A heavy arm has me locked in place.
I bolt upright as memories of last night come flooding back, flashing before me. Logan came to my house, but I didn't recognize him at first. Last time I had seen him he was wearing vampire teeth and pasty white face paint. Yesterday he was wearing sunglasses and a dirty shirt. He still had traces left of him and Rafes fight left on his face. He somehow knew where I lived and said he was here to help fix my boat. The whole vibe was unsettling, though I thought it would be rude to turn him away.
I draw a blank after the memories reach me being jabbed in the neck with a needle. I'm not sure what happened after that, but there is clearly a man in my bed. Did... did Logan date rape me? I hear a scream burst through my eardrums. Only the screaming belongs to me.
Fear indulges me. My instincts pull through and I reach for the knife I keep under my pillow and bring it to Logans throat. Except I'm greeted with Rafe's wide, confused eyes. He puts his hands up feigning innocence.
