Summer has gone by so quickly.
All my brown cargo boxes are moved into my dorm (room 308). It's mostly filled out with old highschool things and clothes. Not many friends in higschool, so not many memories. My life is sad I know.
The dorm building looked like an apartment/hotel hybrid. It looks pretty neat. Haven't seen any bugs so far.
My mother drove me here. I'm about a 100 miles away from home, so I needed a dorm. Ofcourse I'll miss them, and they'll miss me too. At first mom worried that we might have a financial drought when I decided to go to college. However, I guess I was smart and lucky enough to get a scholarship.
I miss being a kid. But I'm also glad all drama and the unnecessary feeling of unwantedness are over. Gave me a lesson.
I looked at the roommate list earlier and have found that my roommate's name was Alexa Baker. Hopefully she's nice.
The room was very much dusty, but the light blue wallpaper looked refreshing. There were two mini fridges already set up and a small bathroom. Next to the window were wooden bunk beds already occupied with pillows and a blanket. Overall, room 308 is pretty spacious. My mom already went home because grandma have no one with her in the hospital.
As I stare at my billion cargo boxes alone, someone knocked on the door. I immediately opened the knob.
"Hey I'm Alexa, are you Princess?" A brunette, dimpled girl asked with a smile.
"Uh, yeah I'm Princess. You must be my roommate." I smiled back.
"Nice to meet you!" Alexa greeted as she offered her left hand, holding a box in the other.
I shook her hand and opened the door widely.
"Thanks." She continued, "Dang this place is bigger that I thought."
"I know right!" I suggested back.
"Are you top bunk or bottom bunk?" She asked
"How about you?"
"Fine, Princess, in a count of three you say top or bottom and we'll both know what we want."
"Kay."
One, two, three!
"TOP"
"TOP"
We laughed, both trying to be generous.
"It's fine you can get the top" Alexa offered.
"You sure?" I asked
"Yeah... I'm used to becoming the top bunker, I gotta try somethin new. Besides, it's easier to get up." she responded.
"Haven't thought of that! Thanks Alexa."
Alexa and I started arranging our things on where they are supposed to be. She seems very organized, me however, not really.
Her desktop items are neatly arranged, I haven't even started on mines. She brought out a MacBook Pro like it was nothing. Alexa must be very rich.
There was no talking while working. Literally. It was so quiet and we had our own separate worlds.
A few hours later, I was finished decorating finally. There was one last item in the box. A picture frame. It was me, mom, Kelsy, and Fiona by the Niagra Falls. Kelsy passed away last year from skin cancer. It was hard, especially for mom. I'm doing college for her. I placed the frame carefully in the middle of my desktop.
So much things have drifted away so easily.
