My first day of high school has arrived. I'm terrified. My hands are trembling as I close my backpack after making sure I have everything. I'm hoping to make friends and avoid being bullied. The first day can't be that bad, right?
"Come on, Lisa, we have to leave right now or you'll be late." Mom yells. "Okay, I'm on my way!" From the other side of the stairs, I yelled back. My heart rate increased as I walked down the stairs.
"Make new friends and be good. I love you." Mom tells me as she gives me a peck me on the cheek. "I'll be fine, Mom." I told her, with. a smile.
I walk out the door and head to school. I started shivering as I entered the building. I'm hoping everything goes well.
As I walk to the cafeteria, I notice a group of five people staring at me. "Hello there, my name is Rose Madden. Come sit with us." She introduces herself. I walk towards Rose, tense. "Hello, my name is Lisa Hale." She says as I shake her hand. "These are my friends Jacob, Jane, Elijah, and Rebeca."
"Hi." I smiled and waved. We had been talking for twenty minutes, until our principal interrupted us.
"Good day, everyone! I'm your principal, Ms. Diaz. I'm going to give out schedules to each student. You may leave for your first class once you have received them."
I got my schedule and did what I was told a few minutes later.
I sat in the back of the class as I entered. I'm not nervous anymore. .
Moments later, the bell rings. I got up and left with the other students.
There were so many students in the hallway. Everyone started shoving each other, and I ended up bumping into a tall girl. Her binder falls on the floor, as she hits her arm next to a locker.
"Oh, I'm so sorry." My words shook. This was extremely embarrassing. This was not how I had hoped for the first day. I could feel my body shivering but tried not to show it.
She didn't say anything to me. Instead, she picked up her binder from the floor and walked away, but I could tell by her expression that she wanted to punch me in the face.
I carried on with my day and went to class. Thank God.
I can't help but notice a handsome guy staring at me as I sit at my desk. I try to avoid making eye contact as I look down at my notebook.
"Good morning class, how is everyone doing? I am your science teacher Mr. Williams." He mentions.
I look up to see if the guy is still staring at me. He is staring at Mr. Williams as he speaks. I pay attention and act as if nothing had happened.
It's only been a few minutes since class began. I'm wondering if I'm being overly dramatic. I'm sure I am.
I direct my gaze at him. He's staring at me now. I nervously wave at him. He returns the wave and turns to face Mr. Williams. He throws a note at me once Mr. Williams looks distracted.
The note falls on the floor, next to my desk. I lean as I picked it up.
I opened the note. It said:
Hello there, my name is Adam Roberson. What is your name, beautiful?
Beautiful? Does he like me? No way can a guy like him like me. At least he's good looking. I tore a page from my notebook and wrote:
Hello, my name is Lisa Hale!
When Mr. Williams was not looking, I throw the piece of paper at him. Adam smiles as he reads it. He then tosses another:
Would you like to have Lunch together?
