Brooklyn slammed open my door while I was calmly reading a book on my bed and the expression she was wearing told me that this was about what happened the other day with the two humans. I place my bookmark and set the book down on my bed and I tried to sound the least bit nervous "H-hey Brook, what can I help you with?" She stared at me and responded "You know fully well why I'm here, now, you're gonna tell me what you were doing with those humans and why you weren't trying to swim away when we all know how dangerous they are." I nervously chuckled and said "I d-don't know what you're talking about, what humans?" Brooklyn only glared and said like it was the most obvious thing in the sea "Um, the humans who had air bubbles around their heads and the ones where you were having a casual conversation with, those humans." I tried avoiding the conversation by turning away and not looking at her but that just stirred the argument more.
After about five minutes I sighed knowing that she would just keeping asking and there would be know way of getting out of it considering Brooklyn is a very persistent mermaid. I turned back around and swam over to close the door behind her. "Both of them were the two humans on the tiny ship when I first brought you to the reef, and they both just kept coming back and they were questioning why I kept returning." Brooklyn cut me off "Dumb humans, we live there" I only shook my head "But they don't know that and we need to keep it that way. Anyways, I brought them underwater to show them what I was protecting from them, then you came along and saw us while I was getting them back on their ship." Brooklyn nodded her head and said "Okay, I think I know what the problem is here", I stared at her with a confused look "What problem?"
Brooklyn swam closer to me and put a hand on my shoulder "This whole reef thing is getting you paranoid because you think the humans are going to destroy it, and I don't blame you but that reef has been perfectly fine for decades until that metal arrow-" "Anchor" I cut in and corrected her. She looked at me with a displeased face "Until that "Anchor" came in and destroyed that one coral. I know you're just doing your future job as to when you become queen but you need to learn to relax and let loose." I gave her a 'really?' face "But, I was just relaxing while reading a book until you came in and gave me a heart attack." Brooklyn's face enlightened "Come on, you're to relax and have! And I know just the place to take you to, but we have to be careful." I gave her an exasperated look "How are going to tell me to be careful, when you just told me to relax?" Brooklyn stated as if it were obvious "It's the thrill of it making your heart race, now come on! Today, you have to do any of that pre-queen, princess stuff. Today's gonna be all about fun."
Brooklyn grabbed my arm and dragged me to the front gates and soon leading me into town. We swam through the streets and saying hello to the merfolk, later making it to the kingdom walls. We swam over the wall and past the canyon, when we were going through the reef I stopped her and said "Hold, why were you so surprised when I went here but were going past here and you had such a reaction when I showed you place." Brooklyn only chuckled and said "I have my secrets and besides, I only come through here when I'm bored or when your too busy, I don't want to bother you, that'll just get you off schedule." I only sighed and continued to follow Brooklyn as she took me farther away from the kingdom and reef. She stopped and I looked around me, I then looked at the ground and said in a warning tone "Brooklyn, why does the water look shallow?" Brooklyn said nervously "Don't worry about that, besides we're here to get you to relax. Or, at least, almost there." I pulled my arm away "Brooklyn are we close to a human town?" Brooklyn only nodded and I said worryingly "And how many times have you been here?" Brooklyn responded quietly "Maybe 4 times." That was when I yelled "Brooklyn! You know being so close to so many humans is dangerous" Brooklyn retorted "You've been near humans too!" "That was only two, you could have been seen by a whole kingdom!" I reasoned. Brooklyn backed away, I softened my tone "I just don't want you to get hurt, besides you're still on a mission to get me to relax and let loose." Brooklyn beamed and gave me a quick hug "Thank you ,Jaiden." I smiled and returned the hug.
