He was running fast, really fast. He just needed to find an escape. So many bad things are happening, so many innocent people getting hurt. The one person he should trust doesn't trust him and he is overall annoyed with the whole matter. His pack is changing perspective, Scott good, Derek bad. But he isnt bad! He does care if they get hurt or not but does it really matter now? Maybe he should just ask Chris to end everything. He is alone, he deserves it so much. But he cant. His beta, Erica, is dead. Boyd is on a killing spree with his younger sister Cora, who by the way, should be dead because of the fire he caused to his family. No one really needs him. Not when they have Scott. Scott still doesn't trust him enough, yet they are somewhat friends. Suddenly something caught his ear. A sound in the dark night, crying maybe. Frowning, the Alpha followed it to a near by creek. Next to the creek was a box, water logged but still strong enough to hold. Derek frowned as he hears the sniffling and crying come from inside the box and what he saw made his heart, if he still had one (Or maybe whats left of it), break. A tiny, tiny(!) little girl was curled at the bottom crying her little heart out. Derek gently laid a hand on her shoulder and she froze, looking up at the man.
"What are you doing out here all alone?" Derek asked, his voice was gentle...surprisingly.
"My-My mommy left...she said she would come b-back..." The little girl whimpered.
"Is she here?" Dread started building in Derek's stomach because he already knew the answer. If he didn't, he was stupid... Or maybe Stiles... Of course her mother didn't come back, this little girl wouldn't even be here if she was.
"N-No...she never c-came back." The tiny girl began to cry again and it pulled at Derek's heart. For a minute he paused, contemplating on what to do, then he sighed and mentally cursed Scott.
'Damn you Scott for freaking rubbing off on me.'Derek held out his hand for the girl to grab.
"Its ok sweetheart. Come on, I'll take you somewhere warm and safe. Then tomorrow we can track down you mommy alright?" His voice was gentler then he had heard since the fire. She held his gaze for a few minutes, obviously scared to trust the man she just met but put her smaller hand into his and held it tightly. Derek tried giving a warm grin to her but he wasn't much of a smiler. She seemed ok with that though.
"Whats your name pup?" Derek asked, picking her up and started walking to the loft.
"Delilah but my mommy called me Lila." She answered, wiping away her previous tears. "Whats your name mista?"
Derek felt another smile tug on his lips and faced the small child. "I'm Derek."
"D-Dewek?" She had a tiny lisp and it was adorable. When he finally reached the front doors of his loft, he pulled it open and walked inside. Peter was sitting, reading a book as usual, and turned his head, blinking in shock as he saw Little Lila.
"Derek? Who's our guest?" He asked gently, standing up to greet the young one. Lila buried her face in Derek's shoulder, avoiding the gaze of Peter's unwavering eyes.
"Her name is Lila. Her mom left her in a box in the creek." Derek growled. Peter hummed and poked Lila's shoulder. Peaking, she looked at the older man.
"Hello little one, my name is Peter." He said with a smirk.
"Peter?" The former Alpha smiled and nodded. He didn't know why he was acting so sweet to the little girl. It wasn't his personality. Maybe it was her sweet innocence that radiated off her. Or maybe it was the way her brown eyes would widen when she learned his name or when she realized he was talking to her. Or maybe it was her presence overall. It was basically the same for Derek.
"Hey! How come you get his name right and not mine?" Derek whined playfully at her. She giggled and hid back to his shoulder.
"Sowy Dewek." Peter laughed while Derek pouted. Peter hadn't seen his nephew so...playful, so happy in years.
"Peter, tomorrow we are going to take Lila to the Police station so we can find stuff out on her mom." Derek explained taking Lila to his bed and putting her on the comforter. Peter frowned and walked up to his nephew.
"Would you really want her to go? Derek, i haven't seen you this gently since the fire." Peter explained softly. Derek huffed amused.
"Same with you."
"My point exactly. Her mother abandoned her, why give her back? She she could be left behind again?" Derek sighed.
"We have to at least try Peter. And if no one comes then maybe i will consider letting her stay." Derek explained as he watched the little girl sleep on the bed. She was curled into herself and her hair laid along her face. Derek brushed the hair out of her eye and sighed.
How can he be so attached to her already? Maybe because he knows what its like to lose family, feel abandoned. Maybe because he doesn't want her to grow up all alone, fending for herself at such a young age. Derek sighed and shrugged to himself. Tomorrow he will see, you never know what may happen.
A/N: Heeeeey so this is my new story Daddy Hale. I had this idea when i thought of what it would be like if Derek had a daughter or something like that. Personally i think he just had to warm up to her first, which didn't last long. This is a short chapter but it is only the first and i will try to update faster and make longer chapters. OK wellllllll bye! You are all Sparkly Rainbow Unicorn Princesses unless your a dude then you Skittles. BYE!!! <3
