I woke up at 4:03 am in the morning. I stood up from the bed rubbing my eyes.

I strode down the dimly lit corridors of the Manor, I walked to the portico and sat in one of the cushioned chairs, dusting the dry leaves out of it. I fixed my sight on a tree, the birds were chirping.

I flinched when I heard a sudden voice.

"Good morning Mattheo" it was father, holding the prophet lookinng up at me.

"Um uh good morning father" I yelled out shifting my gaze upon him. My heart skipped a beat when I noticed him reading the prophet.

"Good morning son" he said again. He folded the paper and placed it on the nearby table, thank merlin.

He looked me straight in the eyes. "Looks like you haven't been sleeping" he said.

He must have noticed the bags under my eyes. "I um-" I struggled for words.

"I do no remember you stuttering" he said his eyes narrowing. I do not stutter indeed.

I rubbed my face. "No I don't strut father" I stated. "I was just staying up doing...an assignment, yes assignment for the summer holidays, I have to turn them up"

Something about me, I can lie to everyone, even the dark lord without any signs that Im lying. Im a great liar of course.

He titled his head. "Then why did you wake up early?" He asked.

"Why did you wake up" I raised both of my eyebrows, I know he would be impressed in me if I ask something like this.

He chuckled for few seconds. "Anyway what is this" he asked pointing to the paper, I could see some words from the article and a picture of me looking...like an angry monster. Gosh.

I rolled my eyes. "Father! That's just bloody Skeeter" I exclaimed.

"What Im saying is that you're the Riddle heir, you should not be involved...in funny buisnesses. Even a single bad thing about you in any paper will ruin your images" he said.

Im surprised, he usually isn't this calm. Im used to him yelling at me. What happened?

"Right" I told in a lazy voice looking around bored.

"Were you and mother going somewhere today?" He asked, not taking his eyes off the prophet.

"Yes" I replied swiftly.

"Where?"

"Don't know, it was some muggle mall. Something about a highlighter"

"Girl stuff" he said. I was genuinely suprised, he isn't this nice to me. Is he going to ask a favour? Demand is more like it.

"Yeah" I replied.

"So how do you think your year at Hogwarts is going to be?" He asked suddenly.

"Erm, good I guess" I sounded somewhat uncertain.

This was too awkward, it always was. So I stood up. "I got to get ready" I said. He tilted his head and continued to read the paper.

I walked away from there to my room sighing. When I was about to open my door, someone tapped on my shoulder, I turned back and saw Jennifer.

"Boo" she said.

I had a bored face. She would sure get the impression I was unfazed.

"What are you doing here?" I asked in a lazy drawl starring at her green eyes.

"Nothing" she replied. "Your mum let me stay the night"

I raised an eyebrow. "Didn't you leave?" I asked.

"Nah" she said swiftly. "Now wake up grumpy boy! And get ready" she said as she walked away.

I rolled my eyes. "Don't roll your eyes" she yelled. She didn't even look at me? How the fuck!?

"You know, you should try a chap stick. Your lips are always dry and god damn it son, you should stop biting it" Willow Ginnart; one of my best friends in Hogwarts. She's a Slytherin and a muggle born.

"Yeah you should mate, I mean look at your face" Adam Tahhan, another Slytherin, one of my best mates.

"Oh yeah, says you" I laughed as I said this, going through the chocolate section in the muggle London.

"Ooh" Willow said looking at the chocolate I was holding.

I turned towards her. "What?" I asked with a blank face.

"Jen likes that you know" she said as she smirked.

I rolled my eyes and threw the chocolate to where it was from.

"Why don't you like her" Adam asked looking confused.

"None of your business" I snapped, friends are sometimes annoying.

"Are you going to fag?" I asked lookinng at Willow. She was holding something that looked like a cigar.

"Heck no, this is a candy dumbass" she replied. "My mum will kill me if I do so, what about you?" She asked

"I might" I replied looking around.

Adam gasped. "Oh and by the way, this is a candy shop and you're fourteen" he said as a matter-of-fact.

"You guys aren't my friends" I told in a serious tone.

Their eyes widened. I waited few moments until my next words.

"Because only they would know that I would smoke only if I was under extreme distress" I said as I smirked.

"Classic Riddle" Willow said as she nodded.

"For one moment there, I thought you became a different person!" Adam yelled.

We laughed and went out of the store.

"Where'd you think Jen and your mum are?" Adam asked while munching a wafer.

"Don't know" I replied. "Wherever they are, they will uh contact us" I said checking my phone. It was pretty early.

"I have to tell something to you guys" I said as I looked around. "Lets go there" I pointed at a store with less people.

They seemed confused but came with me anyway.

We walked in and sat on a table that was away from most of the tables. It was near a window.

I sat in the corner. "An espresso for me" I said to the waitress as she started writing in her small note book.

"Orange juice for me, thank you ma'am" I chuckled at Adam.

"An espresso for me too" Willow said before the waitress could go.

"Erm you can bring it late, no rush" I said as I smiled. She nodded and left.

"Why did you do that mate?" Adam whispered yelled.

"Its for a reason" I looked around. I thought of any spell that would not make others hear our conversation but it was impossible in the situation.

"I saw someone from the order the other day in the Quidditch match"
