Maki's POV
I remember everything. The blood, their faces, their determination. They didn't want to die, and yet they did, and we have to accept that, for there's no bringing them back, no matter how much we pray, or plead. Death is death, after all, and I think I know this best out of everyone still alive. We didn't know where we were going, we just moved. Slowly, but surely.
I'm not one to loose stamina easily, but after so many days, without water, or food, even I would start to get tired. However, Himiko was the worst of all, since she was like the average person, even with food, and water. She was practically not moving, at this point.
We knew we had to find food, and water, and fast. We didn't know how long it was, until we just passed out, and never woke back up. No one would find us, for we don't see anywhere nearby.
Naturally, we made the reasonable decision of waiting until night to actually move around, since the sun would only way us down.
We weren't in a desert, but we still needed to be careful. We didn't know how far it would be, until we find a village, so it would be better to save energy.
Shuichi made sure to smile through it all, though, which was reassuring. I don't know what would have happened, by now, if we didn't have at least a small hope, for the future. Even a small flame can turn into a roaring fire, after all.
