Abiola

At exactly 9 pm she knocks on the door. I open the door to reveal Dylan dressed in a sports bra and tight-fitting leggings. She looks at me with a big grin that's gasping for air. I motion for her to come in with my hand. She starts to remove her shoes and set her bag down.

"So I wasn't sure if you had eaten yet so I brought food for both of us. If you don't want it, it's okay." Dylan says a little shyly. I already ate, but she went out of her way to get me food so there's no way I'm denying her.

"Did you run her?" I ask genuinely curious.

"Kinda. I came from my spinning class and it started to rain. So I kinda ran." She says sheepishly while entering my kitchen. She sets the food down on the island and starts pulling out the plates from the cabinets as if she lives here. I mean, she kinda did for a bit.

"Well if that happens in the future, call me. I don't want you walking home in the rain. You could get sick or something." As soon as I say that, I regret it immediately. I'm not her boyfriend, I shouldn't care.

"Really? That's sweet. I'll probably hold you to it since Zion can't seem to be bothered anymore," she says bitterly. She continues walking around my kitchen after setting down the plates to look for silverware. "You really haven't changed anything about this place. Still looks like the same bachelor pad it was when Zion lived here." She says while looking around for any changes.

"Well what's the point of changing it when my lifestyle is still the same." I say smirking. Back when Zi and I lived here together, we were living the typical playboy life. Bringing home different girls, getting drunk just cause we could, and giving no shits about anyone but ourselves. It was until he started hanging out with Dylan that things changed. He stopped coming out to clubs, became more worried about cleanliness, and 180° his image. The real thing that sent me over the edge was when he said he was moving out. Said he didn't think this apartment could accommodate three people any more, and that he and Dylan wanted a place of their own. I was pissed. At the time I couldn't really afford this place just on my own, and he just left me up and dry with barely any heads up cause his girl said so. Dylan's a really good girl, but she orders around Zion like a dog.

"Glad to know you're still living the same lifestyle. Wouldn't want you breaking my heart with a new girl, now would ya?" Though I know she's joking, her saying that makes my stomach get all weird. To be honest, I think she's the reason I haven't been able to bring a girl home in six months.

"Don't worry you're the only girl in my heart." she laughs at my words not knowing there's some truth behind them.

....

"Alright ladies, the first game is in one month. Till then I expect nothing but dedication. That means controlled drinking, drugs, smoking, and most importantly sex. If any of you get a girl pregnant or contract an STD, don't bother coming back." Everyone snickers at coaches' rant. After hearing it for three years it never fails to make me laugh. Today is when they announced the schedule for the upcoming games. So far all we've had are preseason games which really just gives insight on who's gonna do well this season and who's not. OSU totally knocked the 2022-2023 preseason out of the park, but so did UMich, which is who our first game is against.

"I expect all of you here for an early practice at 5:30 tomorrow morning. I want to see smilies and no yawns. If I see someone yawn, you best believe you're running four laps. No excuses." and with that final note, he walks back to his office indicating practice is over.

"God, I can't believe we're having a 5 a.m. practice on a Sunday" Zion says. I shake my head since this is all I've ever known. My dad would wake me and my brothers up at the crack of dawn and make us do drills till the sun went down. To him, football was, and still is, life.

"Dude, I know. I was planning on getting laid, but I guess that won't be happening." Duke says, rolling his eyes. If only he knew I haven't been laid in six months.

"Zi, you have it lucky. At least you know you have someone to give you head at home. I have to go and scour to find someone." Jakob says sourly.

"Dude, if you have to go and hunt someone done for sex, I'd be concernd." Zi says.

"Shut up, not everyone can have a perfect girlfriend like you." Jakob says grumpily.

"She's not my girlfriend." Zion says annoyed. He always hates it when people call Dylan his girlfriend, even though that's exactly what they are, partners.

"So, you won't mind if I make a move on her?" I ask. He needs to bite the bullet and make his and Dylan's relationship monogamous.

"Nope, no problem at all. Actually tonight you should try and lay her." he grits out through clenched teeth and a pained expression. Jakob, Duke, and I all look at him intensely. Zion has always been possessive of Dylan. Though he and Dylan have made it clear in their own way that they are off limits, they've never explicitly put a title on it. He literally has a tattoo of her name on him, yet he's saying to go for her.

"Sick. I'll let you guys know if she's as good as Zion says." Zion shoves me and I can see in his eyes that this pains him, but I'm a man to my word. Tonight I'm gonna fuck Dylan.
