His voice almost soothes my anxiety. The fact that I'm on a dragon does little to relieve my nerves. Plus, the bikini I'm wearing has me shaking from embarrassment and the cool air around me.
How I'm even keeping it together, while my body rubs against the mans robes, baffles me.
I can tell his back is toned which leaves me to imagine how the rest of his body is. It truly doesn't matter to me, he saved me and the act of kindness is enough for me.
My fingers tightly grasp the fabric of his clothing and my arms wrap around his firm torso. The dragon's flying is all over the place as it circles around to kill any enemies below. I guess I should be thankful it's even willing to have me seated on it's back.
Seeing that the creatures below are dead, the dragon swoops up without warning. I manage to get even closer to the man seating in front of me. He lets out a grunt, probably telling me I'm holding on to him too tight.
"Loosen up," he huffs.
"Oh,"I breathe. "I'm sorry. I've just never experienced this before and I'm terrified."
The man mutters something like 'I can tell' and doesn't speak until we get up to our destination. The dragon lands and lays down so we are able to get off with ease.
"Where am I?" I question, speaking more to myself.
"This is Apocrypha."
"I have no idea what that is."
"You must've stumbled upon a black book," he brings his hand up to his mask, seemingly deep in thought.
"I was reading a romance novel, fell asleep, and woke up here."
"What was it?" The man questions. "The Lusty Argonian Maid?"
"It's a book my best friend is writing," I sigh. "Wait, what the fuck are you talking about?"
"It's a book," he says. "Erotic literature that is."
"Never heard of it," I cross my arms over my chest, standing up and stepping away from the dragon. I then lie to him. "'Lusty' books aren't quite my thing."
"Pity, your attire sends another message," I gasp as he says this, his voice getting smug. The cocky bastard see's right through me.
"What I wear has nothing to do with my choice in literature," I pause, realizing I have no idea what his name is. "Wait."
"What?"
"Your name," I start. "What is it?"
"It's Miraak," he responds. "You are?"
"Phoenix," I pause for a second before speaking again. "How is it a pity that I'm not into erotica?"
"Oh, it's nothing," Miraak takes a step forward, minimizing the space between us. "I just find it quite stimulating."
I gulp, knowing the man can read me like a book. Ignoring what he just said, my mind wanders back to the swamp green setting that surrounds me.
"You'll want to be careful with what you say," Miraak's voice lowers. "Hermaeus Mora holds all knowledge."
"You're helping me, why?" I question.
"Might as well," he shrugs. "You're clearly not here to kill me."
Wouldn't dream of killing him, if I'm being honest.
"What do you mean?" I furrow my eyebrows.
