Day 1: Glances

Sakura doesn't know, that Sasuke often steals glances at her, specifically her now short hair after the events at chunin exams.

Sasuke doesn't know how he feels. Is he mad? Yes, someone hurt Sakura. As much as he hates to admit, her small change of demeanour bothers him.

Because back then, he always hear her voice talk about random topics (especially her hair), but he doesn't mind, it eases him, it makes him feel like he's not alone anymore.

But now Sakura's gotten quiet, more reserved. She doesn't know, but her subtle habit of touching the ends of her hair does not go unnoticed by the Uchiha.

Sasuke doesn't like this small change, but then he remembers why she cut her hair in the first place.

Sasuke knows she did it to protect them, that thought alone made his anger dissipate in seconds, which leads to him smiling.

He feels proud of her. For stepping out of her comfort zone, for doing her best to protect them, for proving him that she isn't as weak as he thought her to be.

Sasuke's grateful, that much he can admit.

In a starry night, he once again takes the chance and took a glance on his teammate, who was sleeping peacefully, evidently tired due to their recent mission which required long travels.

He looks at his other teammate and sensei, to see if they're asleep. Once confirming that they are, he slowly raises his hand and tries to reach for Sakura's hair.

She moves and he freezes, he waits for a few seconds and attempts again, but this time he touched it successfully.

His first thought was that it's soft, so soft...

'She really does take good care of it.' He chuckles lightly.

He gently twists it from time to time, secretly enjoying in playing with her hair. The more his fingers linger on the pink locks, the more his eyes soften.

He doesn't whisper so he wouldn't wake Sakura up, but simply moved his lips.

One that formed the word;

Thank you.

It has become a habit for Sasuke to steal glances on Sakura ever since then.
