000. glowing eyes

LILLIAN WALSH always knew that she'd have to go back to her dumb little penthouse eventually. that didn't mean that when she had to go she was any less stubborn. they were their mothers child (as much as she hated to admit it) and she was very stubborn. the thing is, lilly didn't want to leave, but she knew she had to leave. which was the sad and annoying thing. her parents knew where she was by now, that's why they'd set up a video conference with her at camp. that's why they were sighing and groaning because their child just had to be difficult, just had to retaliate... just had the urge to be loved.

stupid, of course. because why should lilly crave affection? why should they crave those warm soft hugs her mom used to give her? why would she crave the freshly made pasta, the singing in italian at home (when was the last time she spoke italian? was her knowledge of it fading?) why would lilly crave love from their mom... or even some sort of animosity from their 'step-dad'?

it was the classic and tragic story. the poor kid never gets love and the mom fucks off with some rich white-guy.

every bit of her mom that lilly had looked up to had been morphed and stripped away. every ounce of the mom she loved was gone and replaced with somebody different entirely. somebody who had a little assistant running around after them with their big ipad that never left her side. some mom who had everything in her life scheduled, and couldn't even change any of that just so lilly could talk to her. some mom who had a nanny take care of her kid most of the time or usually shoved her to their grandparents house and left her there.

usually.

but a lot of things had changed since then. when lilly was younger, she'd beg for her mom to spend time with her, even just an ounce of care for her. she'd act up in class, hope her mom picked her up- only to see a nanny there dutifully obeying the orders of her superiors. now lilly didn't try to care about their mom, if anything they tried to be the biggest inconvenience ever. and it went without saying that lilly fucking hated her step-dad. he made them so mad, all of them time.

of course, more than just lilly not trying had happened.

for one thing, she'd found out she was a half-blood. a child of hermes, no less. she didn't mind that, really. she was always a fast kid, but when she got claimed by hermes, it was like the training-wheels had been taken away and she could run at the speed of sound. her mom had somehow ignored it fully, and the idea of a demigod was never allowed to be uttered in the house. lilly was put on lockdown for every second of her life. everything was scheduled, except the summer.

it was probably why she loved her summers at camp. they were her paradise, her home. camp was her home, really. sure, she hated waking up early some mornings, and maybe she hated the climbing wall and archery and some other things, but the fact she had people there who cared for them was something that was so fantastic and she was honestly so thankful for. the idea of a family that was tangible was foreign... but lilly welcomed it none the less.

she was glad for her days at camp, and she was glad for the people at camp and she was happy there.

which was why she hated to have this dumb fucking confrence.

the conference held no meaning to them. it was another waste of time for her. another blink of the eye and it would all be gone. lilly didn't like the video conference for several reasons, and she really didn't need it explained. she already hated spending any time with her 'parents' and she was pretty sure they knew that she hated it. but they still set up a video conference with chiron (how that happened, she'll never know).
