Mercy's POV

I stop in front of Sandy and Tyler's house and wait for her to come outside like she told me to. When she comes out I wave and open the door from the inside, letting her climb in and buckle up before I start driving home. "How's your day so far?" I ask to rid us of the silence in the car.

"Pretty good," she shrugs. "Tyler's been out all morning so I've been relaxing."

"Sounds nice," I smile, turning left.

"What about you?"

"Ollie's been bugging me since he got up," I chuckle at the thoughts of this morning. "I woke up to him throwing a piece of toast at my face."

"Buttered?"

"No. I buttered it after I slapped him on the way downstairs," we both laugh lightly. She has a nice laugh. At school she's more guarded, now she seems so chill.

The topic switches a few times before we get to my house, parking and heading inside. "Is there blood on the sidewalk?" Sandy points out as we move towards the front door. It's more towards the road but drops of crimson are dried to the pavement here and there.

"I have no idea," I shrug. "It wasn't there when I left. I'll ask Ollie about it." We go in and take our shoes off before stopping at the sight of Ash sleeping on my couch. "Well that's new." Ice is resting on his side and his face as he lays peacefully.

"What happened to him?" Sandy timidly asks.

"No idea," I shrug again. "Another thing to ask my brother about." We head upstairs and I push Ollies door open more. "What's up with the red stuff on the sidewalk? And why is Ash passed out with ice on the couch?"

"He showed up, beat to hell," my twin turns his desk chair around to talk, pausing whatever he was watching. "I offered him one of our beds but he took the couch," he shrugs.

"What happened to him?" I ask.

"Tyler." His voice is deadpan and I know exactly what happened now.

"No wonder he's been out all morning," Sandy sighs next to me.

"Sorry," I mutter to her before turning back to my brother. "He's not hurt too bad right?"

"Lots of bruises but he should be okay in a week or two. His side might take longer though," he shrugs again. "When he wakes up he'll 'probly text one of us. His sides really fucking with him."

"Okay, thanks for helping him," he nods and Sandy and I head to my room to work on the project.

"I'm sorry Tyler doesn't leave you guys alone. I'd stop him but he never listens to me," the blond is more timid now, more like how she is at school.

"Don't be sorry. It's not your fault. I'm sorry you have to live with him," I assure her. "Ash can handle his share of pain. His mom might be worried when she sees him like that though." I should stop talking.

We change the topic to our assignment so we can start working, eventually laughing and joking as we work.
