1:00pm.
MichaelToday was a short day at work but I wasn't have a good day. My mind kept tracing backwards of Angel's father and him dying. I kept pausing from the shelf to wipe my eyes because it was like I was hurting for her. I felt like I wanted to be around them even though I just met them. However my mother always said that "Good things come in threes." It was like a motto but she said it for a long time. I am tied in with Angel and her wanting to help me and then I really like her and her father.. that's three.
I unboxed and shelved the final can of peas. I walked to the employee lounge. I took a thirty minute break but the good thing was I get off at three. I took out my phone because I knew Angel would be at work. I kinda wanted to invite her over to my place for awhile but I didn't know whether she would want to go or not. I dialed her phone and she picked up.
"H-Hi Ang-gell." I said as I sat down.
"Hey Michael. How are you doing?" She asked in a whisper.
"Um. I-I w-want-ted t-to c-chec-ck o-on y-you." I said.
"Yeah that's so sweet. I am actually at the library. Are you coming out here?" She asked.
"Y-yeah I-I g-get o-off a-att t-three." I said taking a breath.
"That sounds great. I'll be here until they close at six if you wanted to come. When I come here, I would come to the train station to ride here. But I have always parked my car there and then get here." She said.
"Y-yes. I-I l-like t-to r-ride it-the t-train t-too." I said.
"Okay great. I'll see you soon, okay?" She said.
"O-o-ok." I said and I hung up the phone. Then my boss walked in.
"Hello son, listen we are about to renovate certain parts of the store, so I'll be giving you a three day break off, okay?" He said.
I nodded my head in response. "Oh and I wanted to give you your check early and give you a promotional pay raise. If that's okay." He said as he reached in his pocket and handed me a check.
"T-thank y-you s-sir!" I said. He nodded and before he left he said, "Take it easy son and I'll see you sometime next week. You can leave early. " He said as he smiled and left.
I smiled so hard, for him to be an older guy, he was very generous and he never picked on me. He had said that his son had a speech problem, so it was normal for him to hear again. I was proud of myself and I couldn't wait to leave and call my mom.
Angel
2:30pm.As I stacked up the books that just got returned, I walked into the elevator pushing the cart behind me. I hit the third floor and waited as the doors closed and my mind drifted to Michael's reaction last night. My father stayed on my mind all day and I was hurting because I felt like he is all I have left.
As the elevator dings, I walked out to the almost dead looking floor. There was only a few people who came up here and it looked like we were pretty slow and steady today. Not that I liked it fast paced and busy. But just really chill today, I couldn't wait for Michael to come, although, I would love to ride on the train with him, so he wouldn't be alone.
*One Hour Later*
I took a little lunch break and called Michael. His phone went to the voicemail, so I carried on to the local coffee shop. I needed a little fuel and plus I had gathered three books to refresh my memory on speech impairment. It's been so long since I taught a class as a teacher but doing this to help someone like Michael, made me feel really good.
Michael
After I talked to my mother, I took the rest of the day off like my boss told me. I wanted to make it to the house, to shower and change into something comfy. As I was driving Angel's grandfather's words struck my deeply in my chest and thag beautiful face that wanted to see, was flushed with tears when I left. I was so glad to hear from her today however. I actually hated to ride the train. Some days be good and some are bad... people don't treat the irregular people with kind words or had a kind mind.
I pulled up to my house and I looked down at my phone. I had a missed call from her and I called her back.
"Hello?" She said.
"H-hey An-gell. I-I m-missed y-your c-call." I said while I got out of the car.
"Hey. I was calling to see if you wanted to be train buddies. I could ride the train from here and then meet up at the station before we rode out. There and back." She said.
"W-what a-about y-your g-gran-d'.. " I paused secretly frustrated again. I took a breath.
"Take it easy Michael.. small breaths. But he's with my neighbor. The nurse had came by this morning but he's good. He doesn't have to be watched every 24 hours but he's fine. Thank you for asking. " I said.
I didn't speak any more. I was getting frustrated and I hated my voice. This is the worst thing that could ever happen to someone like me. I was a good boy but my father made my life worst. It was so hard to cope with him. He made my life a living hell until I left there.
"Michael are you still there?" She said. I took a breath of the phone, "Y-yes. I-I a-am s-still h-here." I said.
"Oh.. okay but look if you want to meet up at the station we can. Then we can ride out to the station together. Sounds like fun doesn't it?" She said.
I smiled and knew that I was smiling hard. "Y-yes s-sure. I-I w-would-d l-like-e tha-at." I spoke. It gets worst when I am excited.. my talking. And it was a matter of time that I would tell Angel what really happened that night. I hope she doesn't see me as anyone different.
"Okay... I'll see you soon!" She said. "Bye Michael." She said.
"B-bye, A-angel." I said as I hung up. I put
