Jada's P.O.V

School, school, and more school is what I think about. Yeah, you heard me! I need a future! I packed up my binders for my first year as a Sophomore at Palm High. Where mom and dad met. Eww!

"Jada let's go! Erica's here!" Mom called out. "Coming!" I replied.

I looked at my self into the mirror. I see a girl who loves school and loves getting good grades so that she can have a future.

I grabbed my backpack and ran downstairs. Erica waited on the couch and mom is cleaning the counter. I'm a very lucky girl is what my mom said because my dad was a 'star'. He was in a band and was famous. I don't know what happened then.

"Come on Jada. Stop checking yourself out. You're beautiful" Erica said.

She is my best friend and I can't live without her. We've been friends since 1st grade till now. She reads my mind and think the same way.

Tyler, my brother walked downstairs and grabbed his keys.

"See ya" he waved but mom stopped him. "Where do you think you're going mister. Take your sister and Erica with you" she interrupted.

"No way" he groaned "I will be embarrassed if everyone sees that I'm taking my nerdy sister and her geeky friend to school".

"Well too bad cupcake. You're gonna keep driving me to school until I get my license in 4 months. C'mon, you can wait 4 months and then, you can take all the hot chicks to school and I will be driving my own car" I replied with a smile.

Mom nodded in agreement and he groaned "Get in the car".

Mom nodded and continues to clean the table. We got into the car and I was gonna get to the front but Tyler stopped me.

"Don't sit here. Cody will be sitting here" he interrupted. My body felt hot when he mentioned Cody. I had a crush on Cody Lancaster ever since 8th grade. He never talks to me but I see him a lot since my brother is best friends with him.

Erica looked at me and patted my back. She knows that I like him. Cody came in and sat down onto the passangers seat.

"Dude, why is your sister here?" He asked. "My mom made me take them to school" he complained. I took out my iPhone and started looking through my grades.

Cody looked back at me. I looked at him and looked down again. I get so nervous when I'm around him.

When Tyler parked the car, we jumped out and walked to the building.

"Ahemmm? Can I get a thank you, Jada?" He asked.

"Nehh, you could do better" I smirked and we walked inside the school.

We walked in, the cheerleaders came in front of us, to bully us again. "Well well, if it isn't the geeky chick" Carly, the lead cheerleader smirked.

"Stop being immature. My god, you're 17. Grow up" I growled.

"Little geeky chick is being mean. Waa waa" she pretends to wipe a tear.

"I'm surprise you have a boyfriend. He is sooo shallow" I replied.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

I laughed and smirked at her "Oh honey, he doesn't see how childish you are. He's dating a 4 year old".

"I will literally punch you" she threatens. I looked at her and crossed my arms. "Uh no thank you. Go back to preschool where you belong because obviously, you don't know how to act like a girl who is almost done with college. And that is my main reason I'm a "geeky chick" so buh bye" I smiled and Erica and I walked away.

Everyone looked at me wide eyed. Her face turned red but went back to normal once she saw Cody.

"Cody baby!" She squealed and kissed him immediately. Erica went to her locker on the other side of the school and my locker was on another end. I got to my locker and started putting binders away.

Someone shut my locker closed. I looked up and saw Cody. I rolled my eyes and walked away. "We're you treating my girlfriend badly?" He asked furiously.

"Yeah. So what?" I asked.

"She is so hurt because of you!" He yelled.

"She's faking. She's done worse to me. You are just a couple so you are on her side" I complained.

"Yeah so what. It's not like you like me" he replied. My heart pounded and I looked down.

"I'm sorry. I-I gotta go" I turned on my heel and sped walked to science. I heard him call my name but I just ignored.

Erica sat down at a table and so did I. "Hey" she greeted.

"He mentioned it" I said with fear.

"Mentioned what?" She asked.

"We were fighting about how he always agrees with Carly and said it doesn't matter, its not like you don't like me" I replayed it in my mind. Cody came in and sat down next to me.

"Hey what hap-"

"I'm sorry Cody. I don't want to talk about it" I said and placed my hand on my head while looking at Erica.

The bell rang and everyone sat down. My teacher came in and wrote his name on the board since it's the first day of school.

"Welcome class. I'm Mr. Nelson, your new French teacher. Where you are seating will be your permanent seats for the rest of the school year" he announced. Why did Cody have to sit here!

The whole day was terrible. Whenever I see Cody, he always questions me about what I said in the morning.

Tyler came in and grabbed me pulling me away from Erica. "Tyler, what do you want?" I said annoyed.

Cody came up to me. I tried to run but Tyler grabbed my wrists. Erica came running down jumping onto Tyler to let go of me.

"Okay what do you want?" I asked Tyler. Erica, still staying onto my brother's back.

"Jada, do you really like me?" Cody asked. I looked at him "Okay fine I do but it's not a big deal okay. You're dating Carly and I got my own education to worry about" I confessed.

Tyler and Cody looked at each other and I went walking down the sidewalk.

Erica, jumping off of Tyler's back and running to me.

She gave me a quick hug and we went walking down to my house to start our homework.

When we got there, my younger brother, Hunter was watching tv. I looked at him in confusion.

"Hunter, do you have homework?" I asked.

"Yes"

"Well are you gonna do it?"

"No. Jada, not everyone wants to be like you" he replied and glued his eyes to the tv again.

"What's going on Hunter. This is not the Hunter I remember when he was 7" I noted folding my arms.

"I'm trying to be like dad" he replied.

Erica and I looked at each other. "Have you ever thought why mom is only 21 years older than you?" He asked.

"No" I replied.

"Do the math, genius. Subtract mom's age and Tyler's age. It's clear that mom had Tyler when she was only 19. Now, I'm not going to do homework and not go to college" Hunter replied with seriousness.

Tears started to fill my eyes. My mom was inspirational and how could she get pregnant at a young age. She was the reason I started loving school and now she's bringing me down.

I ran upstairs and closed the door shut and continued to cry.
