I woke up in the middle of the night in my room when I remember falling asleep outside at my secret place. I looked around my room to find my window open and a figure sitting there. I saw it was Jeff. He had his arm over his eyes as if he was sleeping. I took a blanket and put it over him.
He didn't stir so I sat back down on my bed. I turned on the small lamp I had connected to my bedpost and grabbed my sketch pad and pencil. I looked at Jeff's figure and started drawing him. I didn't even notice when the sun came up because I was so engrossed in drawing him. Heck, I didn't even notice when he got up. I was just finishing the picture when he came over to look at it.
"Nice work..." he mumbled.
I jumped and looked to him. He wasn't that far from me and was the closest I remembered a boy being to me. I blushed and looked down to my picture.
"It is of perfect likeness to me...very good..." he said softly.
I blushed feeling his breath on my ear and nodded.
"Thanks Jeff..." I mumbled.
He moved away from me and I let out the breath I hadn't realized I held in. I've never had a feeling such as this. It was amazing and I just...I've never experienced this tingling, this warmth, this feeling of being complete. He handed me the blanket I put over him and headed to the window.
"Thanks for bringing me back..." I mumbled to him.
He stopped and nodded with his back to me still then jumped out the window. I sighed and realized I was used to it, to him, only after what? Only after about two days was it? It seems like I've known him forever now. I walked out of my room with my headphones on and it blaring 'Reincarnate' by Motionless In White.
"Kai..." mother's voice called from the kitchen.
I sighed as I walked in right as the song switched to 'Dollhouse' by Melanie Martinez. Wow...that really describes my place well. I looked at my mother through bored eyes then my eyes widened at the boy with her.
"Jason..." I mumbled.
There is my big brother by 6 years. He and I have the same hair but he has mother's eyes. We both hate his eyes so he wore contacts to make them look like our dead father's brown eyes. He wore the same glasses as me. Man, we used to be close but then he went off to college and I started getting beat worst than before.
"Y-you're back from college?" I asked him as he came over to me.
"Nah, just vacation..." he said smiling then hugged me.
I hugged him back smiling. I had my brother back even if it was just for a short amount of time. He hugged me tight as I did back.
"I'm glad you're back. How long will you be here?" I asked him looking up into his eyes.
I forgot how tall he was. He was a head taller than me, taller than mother too. He was 6 foot so a good 7 inches taller than me and 8 inches then mother since she was 5'4.
"I'll be here for two days then I go back so until Sunday," he said smiling brightly.
I heard mother shuffle up behind me and I froze stiff. I was then pulled away from Jason by my hair. I flinched, instinctively putting my hands right before hers to prevent it from hurting so much. I gasped as she pulled harder and I fell onto my back. Jason tried to help but mother pulled harder causing a cry to come from my mouth. She threw me back as she let go of my hair.
"Go to your room Kai..." she said harshly to me.
A tear slipped from my eye as I looked at my brother. I then bolted to my room as mother took a step towards me. I bolted to the far side of my room. An old elevator used to put clothes into the basement was hidden behind my picture of my favorite band, Black Veil Brides.
