HAPPINESS POV

One of the things she hated to see were mornings.

Not that she did not appreciate the wonderful colour the sky had at that time nor did she detest the quiet peaceful and calm nature of the mornings, it's caused by her present predicament which made her extremely grumpy in the mornings.

She cursed under her breath as she finally obeyed her alarm clock and sat up on her bed.

Her orange red hair stuck out messily and wildly as if she just stopped fighting with someone that was putting up a good fight with her.

A yawn escaped from her lips whistle stretching.

"Today's not going to be any different. I'm already tired." She mumbled to herself.

She finally snooze the alarm clock which had when off again.

She yawned again before climbing down her bed and into the shower.

As the water poured down from the shower and to her head then down her pale skin to the ground, her senses woke up.

Her vision became more clearer and her hearing.

It was quiet. That only meant that her mother, Karen was still sleeping.

Her hair was tamed then as it fell to her shoulders and back.

She used her hands to comb her hair which had turned honey and it easily gave in to her wishes. She repeated it for a good number of times as she loved the feeling she got from it, before stopping.

She had to mentally remind herself that she has to save water. They could not afford another water shortage that had happened three months ago.

Everyone needs to save water.

After shower, she went to pick a dress. She doesn't really have many choices actually, just between three dresses, blue, yellow and black then two jeans and a white t-shirt.

Not that much.

She decided to go for the black one. The reason is because it's the only one that's completely dried. The rest aren't wet actually as she washed them the day before but hanged them on her wardrobe.

They felt as if they were sunned with dew and felt cold. That wasn't what she needed. What she needed wasn't what made her remember she doesn't have enough clothes.

The black dress was a plain one with no design expect the bottom which was printed.

She wore it then walked to her wall mirror which hung opposite her bed close to her vanity table. She picked up her hair brush and combed her hair gently. After, she tied her hair up in a tight ponytail.

She again looked at her appearance on the mirror. Her emerald green eyes stared back at her.

Her make free face looked worn out and pale. No dark circles but anyone can easily tell by her eyes she's suffering.

Her hair was tied up tightly but it was as if she could feel no pain. Down her body, the black dress hugged her although it wasn't made to do that but seeing as she's been wearing it for a long time now without throwing it away or giving it to someone younger, the dress had become tighter on her.

She silently prayed it did not tear or loose anytime soon. If it did then it means she'll have to sow it and if she's going to sow it she'll need a needle and thread and for that she'll have to use money from which she intended on using for something else.

The dress appearance on it's own will tell you it's begging for freedom as it's colour was worn out. Black getting worn out? You did not know that right? Well neither did she but now she knows.

She sighed. Her appearance only says she needs help desperately but what else can she do? Perhaps someone will pity her and help.

"No!"

She screamed at herself.

"I've got to be independent and help myself." She argued with herself and if it was possible she wished she could slap her mind for ever thinking of something like that.

She wasn't independent before and look where she is now.

"I must help myself." She said in encouragement to herself.

With that she left the mirror and made her way out her room and to the kitchen leaving her reflection that was so pitiful that her old self would have gaged to see herself right now.

How did she get from the most beautiful to the most pitiful?

Well this is probably another story of from riches to rags but there's a difference in it.

*****

In her barely equipped kitchen which only had a small gas and plates, pot and pan. The cupboards were almost empty. Only two cereals and a half pack of already opened spaghetti were inside.

There wasn't any mechanical equipment to assist and every dish was to be prepared without them.

Although it was more tasty and delicious that way but it can get exhausting especially when you're already tired from work.

She took out the pot then took it to the sink and opened the tap. When the water entering the pot filled up to were she desired she stopped it then return to the gas stove.

She lit up the stove then placed her pot of water on it for it to boil.

She walked to the living room which was after the hallway that led to hers and her mother's bedrooms.

The wall clock said it was seven o'clock so she has to wake her mother.

She strode to her mother's room and entered without knocking expecting to see her sleeping soundly on her bed but to her surprise, she was sitting patiently on her bed. Waiting..?

"Mom?" She said but more of a question, "did you not sleep?"

"Oh I did dear." Her mother stated. "I only just woke up early so it won't be much trouble for you to wake me." She replied. A small smile on her face as she spoke.

Her face had some winkles on her cheeks and forehead. She looked old and pale.

Definitely not the young and beautiful woman of before.

"Did you take your medicine?"

Her mother nodded and she smiled.

It seems her mother is getting better.

*****

While eating the spaghetti she prepared with her mother in their dinning room which was immediately after the kitchen, she got a notification which she identified as a text message.

Looking at her phone screen which displayed half of the text, she clicked on it as it seemed to have interested her.

No doubt it would as it was from her only friend Rin.

She must have texted her this morning for something important and that she has to know.

The text read:

Meet me at the coffee shop ASAP! I think I've got something you could do to help in the meantime *smiley emoji*

"Mom, I've got to go. Promise you'll take care of yourself." She announced.

"But you haven't eaten much from your food. Look at you, you're too skinny! How will you work?"

"Exactly mom, work! Work has drained my appetite and I have to leave now to get one. So sorry mom but take good care of yourself until the sitter comes Kay?" She said then went over to kiss her mother, Karen's forehead. "Bye."

Karen only nodded then she walked away.

The reason why Happiness hates morning is because she has to leave her dreams and continue living in her current poor situation that seems everlasting and struggle.

She had to continue this life.
