In that moment I realized loved Katara, but she was walking away from me so what could I say? I thought it would take forever to realize I was in love, but it took the smallest increment of time to fall. A hitch of a breath. A blinking of an eye. The space between seeing lightning and hearing thunder. That is how it hit me. Like lightning out of the clear blue sky. I was in love. It was the first thing that made sense in my life, and like Katara the one thing that I was completely sure of.
