Subtle Poison

Chapter 11

The dinner that came after the infamous shovel talk and embarrassing explanation was not as disastrous as Deidara thinks. Naruto came home 2 hours after they talked with his parents and he was delighted to know that their parents arrived earlier than expected. Naruto then laughed at Deidara after he got to know what happened and only sheer will prevented him from punching his idiot of a brother.

It was already late in the night when his parents decided to let Obito go. Being alone with Obito for the past four days had done some effects in his heart plus the fact that they hang out everytime they meet at the organization. The past months with him was delightful but the one thing that was not okay was his damn fragile heart. He still hasn't proved Obito to be so serious about him but he thought of giving him a chance.

"I guess I owe you a thanks for... you know... and for the trouble you went through with my parents." Deidara said not looking at Obito's eyes. They were at their house gates to give Obito a goodbye.

"It's okay. You can date me and I'll call it even." Obito replied and he can feel the cheeky grin in his tone. His face suddenly felt hot and even an idiot can tell that he was blushing.

"I guess I owe you that much. Go home. Goodnight." Deidara kissed him on the lips before closing the gate at the gapping Obito and run inside. His own heart stammering on his chest.

He slapped his own face trying to check if he was in a dream. Few slaps later and he was now sure that yes, Obito Uchiha will be his boyfriend starting tomorrow. His heart was still beating hard and he still feel the hotness in his face. Fuck he can't believe it. He felt three pair of eyes staring at him ridiculously.

"Uhm... I'm going to bed. Goodnight!" Deidara hurriedly run to his room which he instantly think was a bad idea. Because fuck it, his room was reeking of Obito's scent that definitely didn't help in his current dilemma.

Deidara didn't slept at all that night. Many thoughts were running in his mind but the main one was; will he regret his choices concerning Obito? And many side thoughts. His mother said to rest for another day before attending the university again. Deidara declined and said that he rested enough and he will go insane if he stays one more day in their house without nothing to do (exaggerated but works everytime). Because unfortunately, his stocks of clay and chemicals run out.

He might go to Tobirama Senju's house for chemicals. The said man was a scientist and definitely a genius. He was his great granduncle or sorts. Honestly, their family tree was messed up. Tobirama and him have great times together considering that the said man keep on insisting that he, too, was a scientist (which he also keep on denying because he was just in it for explosions).

Deidara was about to leave their house when he saw Obito outside. He frowned and walked towards him.

"What are you doing here?" Deidara asked slowly. Obito smiled at him before gesturing his car. He frowned at him.

"I'm taking you to school, what else?"

"I have a car if you're not informed, un." He furrowed his eyebrows at him.

"Don't be a brat and come on." Before he could answer, Obito pulled him and guide him inside his car.

The ride to the university was awfully awkward. The silence was getting on Deidara's nerves because one thing about him? He would and never could stand the silence. Hey, he was loud for a reason.

"So where would you take me for dinner later?" Deidara took his chance and starts a conversation.

"Dinner?" Obito side glanced at him.

"Well yes. I did say I'll date you. And you better give me a nice date Obito to make up for those mistakes you did on our first date. "

They laughed at each other after that. Deidara kissed Obito at the cheek before leaving him. He thought Obito are always in the university but he thought wrong. Turns out he just always found a way to attend the meetings organization despite his schedule for their company. Well, he did have priorities.

Deidara did not missed much of the subjects even though he was absent for almost a week. That's a good thing because he still doesn't have the will to do things at the moment. He did told his mom that he don't need to rest but his mom should have known better than to believe him. Stubbornness run in their blood after all.

The organization's meeting also went well, although the members teasing glances was getting on his nerves. Deidara can't help to sneered at them but it didn't get them at all. Maybe they can't believe that their youngest member and third oldest member fuck each other. And Deidara remembered that Obito's age is over 30. He didn't look like it at all. Obito kind of look like at mid 20. But oh well, it did prove that he have a handsome boyfriend, no?

"Stop staring at me or I'll poke your eyes bastard, un." Deidara growled at Hidan sitting beside him. The stares was already annoying and Hidan was sporting a maniacal grin too.

"I didn't know you and Obito are a thing, huh?" Hidan teased him and he's just stopping himself because killing another member wasn't allowed at the organization.

"Didn't know we need your permission, yeah."

"Oh you certainly need. We're best friends after all blondie."

Deidara snapped his head at him and glared. Since when they are best friends? As if he will be best friend to a zealot satanist.

"Don't deny it blondie. We've spent some time together." Hidan beamed at him before placing his arms around his shoulders, pulling him closer. Deidara's scowl deepened because he doesn't like their skin touching.

Deidara just sighed because he know he won't get Hidan leave him alone. Well  except for his attitude, Hidan was alright to be with. He might be an idiot but hey, Deidara was one too and he won't deny that. Not when too many people said that to him already.

The meeting went on and they gave new missions for them. It doesn't have a time limit so he and Sasori didn't need to do it immediately. But in case they have to, he'll be sure to do it fast because he don't want to miss his and Obito's date tonight.

The said man was not present in the meeting because he was needed in his company for some unknown reason, but Obito made sure to inform him that their dinner will happen so he should not be worried. Well, he was not worried. Despite Deidara's stubbornness, he was very understanding. So he can understand if at some point they will have to reschedule one of their dates (of course he's sure there will be more dates to come.)

He saw his brother with his boyfriend on his way to the the University's parking lot. They really are close to the hip. Made him feel jealous because there were times he caught a glimpse of them, and saw how happy they are and wish that somehow, he will experience that too. But the past heartbreaks made it hard for him to trust someone again.

Trust is hard to earn and it will take time, but maybe he can take time with Obito. And Deidara knew how dangerous he was doing. But chances are given and risks are taken. He don't want to regret just because he was afraid. And besides, love is definitely fleeting. It suits his art. Made him feel it really clicked.

Obito's smile waiting for him at the parking lot sent warmth to his heart. Deidara smiled back and run towards him. Yep. Definitely worth it.
