"Columna Ignis!!" Luz yell and a huge fire started in front of her.

"Miss Noceda!! How many times I have to tell you, you can do chantless magic, why do you keep yelling out words?"

"Effects, why else?"

"Yes, Miss Noceda but why?"

"Look, I know I don't need to but my brother has told me I can yell out a word if it makes me feel more in the moment"

Luz is a sorceress in practice and meanwhile, she was one of the best in school the fact that she went against all of her teachers is troublesome, to say the least.

"Miss Noceda, I know that your older brother, Lex Noceda, is a great sorcerer..."

"A sorcerer that just happens to be one of the most talented sorcerers this community has seen in centuries, yeah, I think I will go with his advise Ms. Smith," Luz said interrupting her teacher.

"Could you at least try to do it without 'effects'?"

Luz sighted, she spun around to face the dummy. She closes her eyes for a moment and casts the spell. The teacher smile but she knows that this kind of spell is less powerful than when she yells words in Latin.

"Thank you, Miss Noceda, you can have a seat now"

Luz walks towards her seat and sat down, as always the other students are looking at her like a freak.

"I mean who does she think she is?"

"Show off"

"Chantless freak"

Luz hears this from all around her, she just put on her earphones and listens to music. She is used to this to hear all her classmates make fun of her, so she just ignores them and tries to go to sleep as she doesn't want to pay attention to class.

She wakes up as the last class come to an end and all the student have left. As she gets up and starts to pack her things but a voice comes from behind her.

"Luz, can you stay? I wanted to talk to you"

Luz turns around to see Miss Brown, probably the only teacher she listens to. "Yes, Miss Brown"

"I heard you talk back at Miss Smith again"

"..."

"Look, I know you know that most teachers here want to learn, or rather steal, the technique to do chantless magic, and that why you yell words"

"... They also make me feel cool"

"And they are, I mean I would have love if my older brother had taught me another language when I was your age"

"He is a cool brother, you always tell me I am lucky to have him"

"You are, I mean you have seen his colleagues"

"Yeah... Anyway, why are bringing him up?"

"I know you had a fight with him"

Luz flinches and stands there in silence. Because her teacher always comparing her to him, she has grown tired of it and yelled at him for no reason and now she is too embarrassed to apologize to him.

"Your brother knows you, so he told me to give you this" Miss Brown says as she hands a letter.

Luz opens it and she gets teleported to where the letter is designed, as she recovers from the flash, she sees Lex sitting there looking at her.

"Hi, Lex"

"Hey, Luz, how was school?"

"It... it was terrible"

Lex stood up and walk up to Luz and padded her head. "They compare you to me again, didn't they?"

"Yeah, I don't like been compared to you and it difficult to be mad at you since you are such a nice person and you are also a great teacher"

Lex kneel down. "Hey, listen I know you don't like much the classes that they teach, so I decided to teach you from now on"

"Okay, but then why are we in the forest?"

Lex started to walk away. "What better way to teach a girl with boundless energy, than showing her rather than reading about it"

Luz smile as she ran in front of Lex screaming for him to hurry. The day went on peacefully as Lex had intended.

Luz rested her head on his legs as they were recovering as they had been all over the forest.

"Today was fun, thannnnn...."

Luz cut off as Lex drag her behind a tree. "Lex, What the hell!?"

"Shhh. Look"

Luz peeks her head as she sees some sort of familiar, it was a little owl. The owl was dragging something heavy in a sack, Luz was about to go and catch it but Lex stops her.

"Don't, we don't know what that is"

"What do you mean? That clearly is a familiar"

"A familiar made out of wood?"

Luz was taken back for a moment, sorcerers can make a golem, but they usually are slow and not very intelligent. This one displays high intelligence, Luz and Lex observe as the owl opens a door and went through it. Luz quickly chases after it and Lex follow both went through the door before they fell to the floor.

"Where are we?"

"I don't know, but we clearly went through a portal"

"Nice work Owlet, you brought a good haul, now let see what you brought," said an old woman as she opens the curtains.

"Humans!?"

"A witch!?" Luz screams as she was ready to pounce on the lady. Thankfully Lex grabs her in time.

"Whoa Luz, easy there"

"Okay, how did you two got here?"

"We follow him, Owlet I believe his name is"

"So you follow my Owlet... I can open the portal again if you want"

"... What do you want us to do?"

"What?"

"There is no such thing as free lunch, what do you want in return"

The witch stood there thinking. "Then I need  you two to get something of mine that was stolen"

"... That's it?" Luz asked

"Yeah"

"Deal, the name is Lex and this is Luz, my little sister" Lex said extending his hand.

"Edalyn, call me Eda" She said as she shook Lex hand.
