I looked at my phone, waiting for their call. They were taking longer than usual. If they were going to be this late, they shouldn't have told me to arrive here by noon.
It's been fifteen minutes already since they told me they were stuck in traffic yet I am still alone in this table.

I saw a tall waiter walking towards me.

"Excuse me, sir? Would you like to order something?" He said with a bright smile. But from the look of his eyes I could tell he was slightly annoyed.

I smiled back at him. "No thanks. I will order once my friends are here." I replied to him with the same soft tone he was using on me.
Thankfully the waiter went away without pressing me to leave.
I opened my phone ready to make another phone call.

"Ah! I see him. He is there!"

I heard a familiar voice shouting from the doorway. Without needing to look at them for affirmation, I yelled back at them.
"You guys are late."

The three of them came over to me with bright smiles on their faces. Abigail and Asher were holding hands as they walked over. A sparkling ring on Abigail's ring finger didn't miss my eyes. Easter, who was Asher's twin sister had a smug smile on her face. She looked at me and then at her brother and sister in law, as if teasing them with her eyes.

I smirked.

Finally they are tying the knot. I felt a warm feeling seep into my heart. Well, at least, my friends have the blessing of love with them. I felt glad and happy for them.

"Zeke, sorry for being late." Abigail smiled as she took her seat. Her eye smile was so cute, as always.

"It's okay. By the way, congrats!"

The three of them looked at me wide eyed.
"How did you know?" They were probably thinking this.

I rolled my eyes at them. "With a sparkling ring like that, how can I not notice? Unless my eyes are bad."

Abigail blushed as she looked at Asher. They did their own eye talking thing ignoring both me and Easter.
Well....they looked so cute together so I guess I will put up with their PDA for now.

As soon as everyone settled down we ordered food. Obviously it was our lovely couple's treat. We talked for a bit, updating each other about our current lives. Easter was still in her band doing small concerts. While Asher had gotten himself an office job. Abigail on the other hand was a math professor in a prestigious college.
I felt proud of them for some reasons even though I was younger. At present, they are three years older than me. I graduated University at the young age of 20. Though my soul is older than them.

"Little Zeke, make sure to come at our wedding. We will send you the invitation. It's going to be private. So you must come no matter what. Okay?"
Asher treated me like his own younger brother. It was funny to do so since I am older.

Still I valued him as a friend. I smiled at him. "Sure."

He then rubbed my head. I squeezed my eyes shut feeling the familial affection he had for me.

We parted ways by evening.

As I was walking back home, I looked up at the sky above. It was the same old dull colour, yet, the sky was sparkling with unfound beauty for some reason.

"Someone's Happiness sure is magic." I thought to myself.

I walked the rest of the distance to home by foot. The walk was one of the most wholesome walk I have ever had in the past few years.

By the time I reached my door it had fallen dark.

And...

Right in front of my doorway laid the body of a man.

There was blood. He was hundred percent bleeding.

"......."

The ambulance.
