Victoria got off the train at Michigan, and hopped in the first cab she saw, her old tattered suitcase almost completely lost in the tulle of her full skirt. She was making sure all of her adorable wedding dress was stuffed into the car when her phone buzzed,
“Yes..?” She spoke, tapping the driver on the shoulder she mouthed ‘Airport’, “Okay D, I’ll be there.” She smiled.
“D’Angelo,” She rubbed his back, “My darling son, you’re going to have the call off the wedding… If you’re sure she isn’t coming..” His mother trailed off.
“I scared her away mam” He let out a strangled sigh. Vinny stood next to Aldo and Belvedere, the eldest sons, twins who were 6'3" with hazel eyes and beautifully sculpted face, thick luscious brown hair, and their skin had a slight glow about it, it was obvious they had come from Italian decent, they were the trouble makers, and were the typical older brother figure, protective, caring, annoying, irritating and funny. His two younger brothers Ignacio, who was not as tall, and had darker brown eyes, was very broad, much like his father, and was the most reckless of all the brothers and Gabriel, the son just before D'Angelo, with bushy eyebrows and a harsh mouth, he was around 6'1 and a real charmer, he looked more like his mother, but was the sneakiest, stood over at the back door, speaking in hushed tones. Tony walked in, all the way to the front of the church. Clearing his throat he raised his hand in the air , demanding all the attention of the guests, his gruff voice boomed out of his chest as everyone held on to his every word which were heavily laced with a thick Italian accent.
“I am sorry to announce, today there will be no wedding. There will however..” He started to yell, because of the outraged discussions of the family and friends of the bride and groom, “There will however! Be a party, at the reception, as planned. Me and my sons will not be attending.” smiling he placed another fat cigar in between his slightly crooked teeth. “So, eh.. Haha, ‘Mazel tov’ !” He chuckled, the churched laughed and started to file out of the church and into their cars to attack the party and enjoy the rest of their night. Tony walked over to D’Angelo as the church started to empty, “Son, where is she?”
“ Papa, I don’t know, but she sure as hell ain’t here!!” He was getting angry over the whole situation.
“Cool it, I’ma call Paully, he’ll find her.” Pulling out his phone he swiftly walked out of the church.
“Aldo, Vinny, Belvedere!” D’Angelo hollered as he walked over to them, “Let’s go for a drive.” Kissing his mothers cheek, “I’ll see you later mama.”
After the boys were all in the car, Aldo was demanding answers, their black jeep speeding down the highway.
“How can she ’know’?! We’ll have to get her. An’ sort out this mess.” Also snarled at his brothers,
“I agree.” Belvedere stated, “but why would she run?”
“She’s probably scared, where would she go though?” D’Angelo asked, more to himself than anyone else,
“Doesn’t she have family in Vermont?” Vinny queried.
“Yeah! She used to live in Vermont,” realisation dawning on him, “Someone call Papa.”
“Fifty seven dollars please, Ma‘am.” Mr. Taxi-driver-man said, helping Victoria out of the cab
“Thanks,” Victoria handed him sixty dollars from the pocket of her trench coat, “Keep the change,” She winked at the young man in front of her , and he blushed.
“You’re looking mighty fine for all this travelling..” He blushed even more, his cheeks a rosy red,
“I’ve a party to attend,” She smiled sweetly and marched into the airport, yanking the old trench coat on over her princess like dress, clutching the edges of it over her elegant dress. Her beautiful blonde hair a little messy from the palaver of running, looking at her exquisite watch, (the one her fiancé D’Angelo had given her on their one year anniversary. Engraved on the back was Mrs.Carribelli ) The airport was crowded, it was after all the middle of July,
