Out of Director Miller's reach, Mike let go of Clary and Clary asked:

- Did you hear what Miller said? - Clary told him with genuine interest, she needed to change the subject and make him feel better after seeing how pale the boy had turned when she was "choking", or at least that's what Clary wanted to call it.

- I didn't hear anything - He said in a voice that was trying to mimic normality, but not quite succeeding.

Clary noticed that he didn't seem to want to talk to her, as if it was his fault that she had almost died. She decided not to speak to him and stay silent the rest of the way to the principal's office, but.... Why keep quiet? She was not going to remain silent, she could not. Especially because she didn't understand Mike's anger.

- Hey, Mike. I'm really sorry, I don't know what happened, but it happened, if you could at least tell me why you're angry or what I did to make you not.... - She said in a whisper, but he cut her off mid-sentence.

- Mad at you? You think I'm mad at you for almost dying? Really Clary? More than angry, I'm worried about the idea that I almost lost you, I'm nothing without you. -Seeing the grateful face she turned to him he let out a small laugh and gave a little smile, the kind Clary loved, "Yes, I'm scared about what happened to you, but that's not why I'm, as you called it, angry.

- Oh, no? Then why? -Said the girl quite confused, for a moment she had feared the worst, but she realized she was being a bit dramatic.

- Let's see, angry is not exactly the best term, and as for the question before, yes, I heard what the director said and honestly, it worries me.

- You're concerned? He literally said he owed that friend of his a lot of sorry knives.

- Elementary, Clary, elementary," he said with another laugh, "You know? I'm starting to worry that the water the principal gave you to drink has clogged your ears.

- It's not funny at all," she said with a frown, although deep down, she was having fun with Mike, "You don't know what I've been through.

- In that case, explain it to me, it will be better this way, don't you think? - He said with inscrutable eyes - Because, it's one thing for someone to be drowning for no apparent reason, and another for what just happened to you. Clary, your face was as white as wax ever since you looked at that girl.

She sighed, and told her best friend in detail everything that happened to her when she looked at that girl friend of Olivia's. When she finished, Mike was looking at her with eyes like saucers. - What did you hear her thoughts? -They were at the threshold of the headmaster's office, which had brown upholstered walls, they opened the door and finding no one inside, they sat down on the two chairs in front of the large table that served as the headmaster's desk.

- Yes," she nodded silently, "When I stopped hearing what I was thinking, I lost my breath, the weird thing is that it felt like a hook was digging into my ribs and pulling me towards the fountain.

- Wow, it seems that now you are some kind of killer mermaid expert with weapons- Seeing the angry look that the girl was giving him, he smiled and added- Okay, okay, it was a joke. I believe you and I think it's a little weird all this, and we should wait to see what the director says, maybe you were just delirious.
