"Come on, I don't want to be late! I don't want to disfigure myself in front of Griffin!" exclaims Ruby as she finishes styling her gorgeous bright magenta braid.
She puts on her uniform, by now all three Magix schools owned it. It was a simple uniform consisting of a white shirt, gray sweater, skirt, socks and shoes that were strictly black, and a bow tie or tie in any color as long as it was dark. Ruby had chosen a dark red tie, her favorite color. She put on her cape and grabbed her books.
"Stop being miss perfect just to be nice!" chants Kyle intent on eating his big bowl of cereal.
"Come on, enough fighting, I hope you're ready!" calls them back Harmony, ready for her fourth year at Alfea. She too was in her uniform, similar to her sister's but in pastel colors.
"Yep, here I am!" Jayden walked down the stairs, quickly donning his Specialist cape.
He had been assigned to the sapphire section, so his gem was blue.
"Jayjay, more care, please..." Riven tells him, putting his somewhat creased cloak back on.
"Yes dad, you're right!"
"Will you drive us today?!"
"Sure, like every first day of school!" exclaims Musa, as cheerful as ever.
"Kyle, come on, finish those blessed cereals and go brush your teeth, come on..." dad urges him, as he closes the windows of the house. The little guy snorts doing as dad says.
Harmony stops him by hugging him and ruffling his magenta hair, held up like Riven's. Kyle was his big sister's pet, he had a special bond with her because she was the oldest and was kind of like his mom. Kyle got ready at the end, putting gel in his hair and putting on a tough-guy face: everyone told him he looked like his dad, he worked hard to be his doppelganger in smaller size.
"Let's go, it's late!"
The family arrives shortly thereafter at Alfea, the first school to visit. Harmony immediately runs over to hug Periwinkle, a first grader, and Alex who lifts her up and kisses her softly.
"Are you ready, sweetie?"
"Of course! But where is your sister?" asks searching Blair.
"Oh she, as a princess, can't miss the first day of school...even if she goes to elementary school, Grandpa Erendor cares..."
"Oh... I see..." she giggles kissing the handsome redhead again.
Riven wanted to choke him but a pat on the back from Sky makes his killer instincts go away.
"Hey Riv, how are you?!"
"Good, good, your highness..."
"And come on don't be like that, we're having our lovebirds engagement party in two days. Try not to be your usual self!"
Riven snorts as he rolls his eyes. Although he was no longer a prince, he was one by blood, and both Erendor and Oritel had agreed to his nephew getting engaged to the princess of Obscurion.
"Hi Kyle!" greeted him Patricia, Helia and Flora's little girl.
"Hi Pat..." he greets her being his usual grumpy self.
The little girl pouts but then realizes that Kyle is just like that even when he greets Richard, Stella and Brandon's son.
Everyone enters the schoolyard, before accompanying their other children to the others. Faragonda begins her speech, declaring that this would be her last year as principal of the prestigious institution and that she would be handing over the presidency to Griselda.
"Ugh, good thing I enrolled in Cloud Tower..." grumbles Ruby to Periwinkle, already terrified of the dreadful Griselda.
Even in Red Fountain there were changes: Saladin has retired, leaving the school in the hands of Codatorta, to the joy of many students, including Jayden. Griffin, in Cloud Tower, would continue being among the three the youngest in a way. Plus, she didn't want to miss out on a special student of Ruby Ashford's caliber.
Riven and Musa return home along with Kyle, who would start school the next day. The little boy looks out onto the terrace, a little sad to know that he won't be seeing his sisters and brother for a while, as he has for the past few years now.
"Phew, Ruby's gone too...Dad I want to enroll in Red Fountain too!"
"In five years, Kyle..."
"But I want to be as strong as you!"
"You will, just think...under the old rules, you could only sign up at sixteen. Now even at fourteen."
The little boy sighs. He was sorry he couldn't attend with his brother. Jayden, after graduation, would choose to study at the Linphea Paladins school; Harmony wanted to enroll at Golden Auditorium while Ruby would attend the psychic arts school.
"Come on, Kyle...starting tomorrow you'll see your classmates again, don't be sad," Mom reassures him.
The little boy snuggles up to his parents, thinking positively. Riven and Musa return the hug with immense love for their child.
"One day, I will become a strong warrior sorcerer and be in the ruby section of Red Fountain, just like Daddy!"
