January was alright, Mel and Harry were exhausted but not in an unbearable way, and the twins were fat, beautiful, and full of energy. Reason why Mel had to hire a babysitter to look after them, because her mum couldn't do it, Remus and Tonks couldn't do it, Anne and Erick definitely couldn't... but she didn't want to hire a stranger.
"What if I just take them with me to the ministry?"
"I don't think your department's the best place for babies, love."
"Well, the Aurors' department isn't good either!"
"I know, that's why I didn't offer to take them there."
The young woman groaned, rubbing her eyes wearily. "Then what do you suggest we do, Glasses?"
Harry had one baby on each arm, both of them fast asleep. He shrugged lightly. Mel scowled at him, she took James carefully and placed him on his cradle, then she did the same with Emmeline.
"I have no one," Mel pouted, voice cracking under the stress. "All of our friends work, and I won't leave the twins with a stranger, I refuse to."
"Yeah well, considering our story with strangers, I wouldn't trust anyone I don't know to even look after Hedwig and Grey."
"Then what do we do?" Mel asked again, eyes teary.
Harry wrapped one arm around her and kissed her temple, deep in thought. "...there is something we can do."
Mel looked up at him, suppressing a yawn. "Yes?"
Harry rubbed his neck, yawning right after her. "W-We can... use my office? To work? You know, two days of home office, two days in the Ministry—the fifth day we can take turns to see who goes and who stays here?"
Mel hummed. "Let's talk it out with our supervisors."

It was Mel's first day back at the Ministry, and as expected, there were a suspicious amount of acquaintances running into her throughout the day. Rita found a way to sneak up on her at the last hour of the day, but Mel turned into a Fenix and went out of the Ministry on Hermione's shoulder.
The system was working between her and Harry, and even if it was tiring, they knew it wouldn't be forever. There was a new worry on Mel's mind, however, after the first time Emmeline made the flowers of the tapestry bloom out of the wall.
Emmeline was a Dumbledore girl. She'd already been faster than James at showing signs of magical power, and every time Mel found the girl staring up at her with those unnerving blue eyes, a wave of anxiety would hit her.
That was the moment she decided to draft her next big project: treatment for Obscurials. She would not have her daughter go through what Ariana and she had to go through. If, for some reason, Emmeline started to have bursts of magic, Mel would make sure her daughter would not live wondering if she was going to lose her mind.
Although Mel was hoping her daughter was destined for an uneventful, sweet life, she needed to make sure, just in case.
"Obscurial children," Mr Greengrass gave her a knowing look. "Should've known this would be your next idea."
"Is that a yes, sir?" Mel asked hopefully.
The man sat back, scratching his beard. "Well, this one is clearly in the early stages of research, not even a hypothesis, just a vision... but if there is anyone that could take this idea and turn it into something extraordinary and revolutionary, that's you."
Mel smiled. "And I promise to give it my best."
The man nodded vaguely. "I suppose Mr Flint is bound to be chosen as your partner in this adventure?"
