'i have a hopeless crush on someone i have no chance with.'

"look! it's snowing out!" a student called. it was only two days until winter break.

the class gasped as if it were their first time seeing snow. though, everyone knew it wasn't, they just wanted to do anything but learn.

the crowd rushed to the window, it was second period. "hey! sit down" the teacher yelled.

they didn't listen. no one really cared, exams were over.

though, denki did. he remained seated as students rushed passed to see the snow falling from the sky.

"denki-? let's go look at it!" izuku said excitedly. "i'm a little tired, i'd rather see it after class." denki admitted.

he was lying. he didn't want to see it at all.

ever since his realization to liking izuku, he's felt off, a bit down.

to him, loving izuku was bad. something that would ruin their friendship with just three words.

feelings that weren't meant to be.

"ah, alright." izuku said, turning to join everyone else at the window.

as he did, denki noticed the shorter auburn haired girl walking near him, placing her hand on his shoulder.

"oh, hey ochako!" izuku said, smiling brightly.

ochako had responded, though it was inaudible. whatever it was, it sure did make izuku's cheeks turn a soft pink.

denki heard the snapping of his own pencil as he watched. his heart aching once again as he watched. he wanted to be there instead. though, ochako was just too perfect. she had everything, everything that denki didn't have.

he was just a kid with braces and a hopeless crush on his best friend. and he had to live with that.

"have an amazing break and merry christmas!" the principal said from the pa, ending the announcement before the final bell rang.

it was friday, snow fell freely since the day it started. it was also the first official day of winter, christmas was close.

"denki! come with me to my house to decorate the christmas tree." izuku said as they fled their classrooms.

denki nodded, smiling. "let's go." he said softly.

izuku smiled as well as they walked home.

at first, the walk was pretty noisy as other students were following behind, talking with their friends, loading up buses, or getting into their own cars.

though, it began to quiet down as they turned to their neighborhood. they lived only a block apart so walking together always happened.

denki slowly looked over to izuku as they walked, watching as the frosty breaths escaped his lips. he'd been wearing the hat that denki gave him last christmas, it was a soft shade of mint green with a tiny white polar bear on the front.
