Marinette couldn't focus on the words Madame Dumont was saying. She knew the teacher was saying stuff about different types of skirt designs and what fabrics would help with certain effects. But Marinette's mind was stuck on the handsome young man who had caught her earlier that day in the park. She couldn't get Adrien Agreste out of her head. He had been so nice, and gave her such a sweet smile that made her legs crumble like a piece of paper. Just the thought of his voice itself made Marinette's heart flutter.
She couldn't get the image of his soft emerald eyes out of her head. Or his sunny blonde hair that shone like gold underneath the sun's rays. His sun-kissed skin, the light blush that danced across his cheeks. The chance of Marinette seeing him again was pretty low. There were so many people in Paris, but she was a superhero after all. She could use her enhanced vision and abilities to her advantage. Marinette knew she shouldn't do that, and she was going to get an earful from Tikki about that later, but she just had to see him again.
Marinette's seating partner, Anna, nudged her.
"Hey, you good? You haven't been concentrating very well today. Why's that?" Anna asked.
"Oh, uh, it's nothing really. Just a bit distracted. That's all," Marinette told her.
"You sure? To me, it looks like you've been more than a bit distracted. More like you have a crush on somebody. Maybe even falling in love. Tell me, who's the lucky guy who's got Marinette Dupain-Cheng's heart?" Anna said cheerfully. Marinette blushed fiercely.
"Well," she began, "I'm not sure I'm falling in love but it may just be a crush, or something. I just met him this morning." Marinette replied.
"At least tell me his name!" Anna pleaded.
Marinette giggled, and said, "His name is Adrien."
"Adrien what?"
"Agreste."
"Wait," Anna began, "The Adrien Agreste? As in the famous model Adrien Agreste for his father's company? Face of the Gabriel brand?" Anna pulled out her phone quickly and started typing. A few seconds later a picture of Adrien was on the screen. Marinette recognized that face instantly, but something was different from when she met him a few hours before. His smile didn't seem as bright in the photo as it did on the sidewalk. It was as if he glued on a fake smile, like a facade, in that picture and every other one she's seen. While on the other hand, the smiles he gave Marinette seemed real, warm, friendly, and genuine."Yeah, that's him. But he looked different in person," she said. Anna shrugged and retrieved the phone back from Marinette's hand. Marinette pulled her own phone out quickly to alert Alya that she was going to be a little late for their scheduled picnic.
