Almond Cookie arrived early as usual with his bag slung over his shoulder. He covered his yawn as he entered the precinct. He didn't sleep at all last night due to the case. Still nothing showed itself as evidence. Nothing popped to the detective. Usually evidence popped out at him at a scene. It helped him see the important things and ignore the rest. Sadly, that wasn't happening in this case. He grabbed the keys to his office and unlocked the door. Immediately, like the other night, he felt something off. This time however he saw what it was. 3 pink petals lay on the ground leading to his desk. If a cookie could pale, he definitely did. Those petals... the memories... He shoved them away. He had worked so hard to bury the hurt he felt occasionally. He did it for Walnut. She needed someone strong for her. He needed to be strong... for her. At least, that's what he told himself for all these years. The petals, however, were just a sprinkle of what was to come. He walked to his desk and froze. His eyes became unfocused as he looked at a picture of his wife. His hands shook as he picked it up. He flipped it over and saw a note. It only had 2 words on it but those 2 words were enough for a paragraph. It read,
"Remember me?"Almond cookie dropped the picture. No, no, it wasn't possible. He, he was in the most secure place Almond knew. There was no way that, monster had made it out. And yet here it was. Perfect evidence to show that he was. He had somehow found a way out of his entrapment. He was back, back at this horrible little game he liked to play. Almond Cookie grabbed his phone quickly and started to dial a number but stopped. He stared at the screen for a second before shutting it off. Not yet. He needed more evidence, more proof. He had to be completely sure. He gently put the picture into a pocket of his suitcase and removed his notes and computer. He sat down and got to work eagerly.
