"The second star to the right shines in the night for you. To tell you that the dreams you plan really can come true. The second star to the right shines with a light so rare, and if it's Neverland you need, it's light will lead you there. Twinkle, twinkle little star, so we'll know where you are. Gleaming in the skies above, lead us to the land we dream of, and when our journey is through, each time we say goodnight, we'll thank the little star that shines. . .the second star from the right."
Dipper smiled as he closed the green book and put it on the dresser next to his bed. He removed his reading glasses and placed them in their case. He glanced over to Mabel's side of the room to see her crisscrossed in bed, listening as he finished reading their favorite childhood tale. Mabel sighed and shifted her weight back on the bed. "Did you ever believe you would visit Neverland, and meet Pacifica, the girl who never grows up. Even if it was in dreams?"
Dipper shrugs his shoulders. "Maybe when I was five. But, you do realize we'll be out of the mansion by tomorrow, don't you? Tomorrow is our eighteenth birthday." He lets out a sigh. "It's the day we become grown."
Mabel turns to her side and nods. Dipper sensed her disappointment and wanted to tell her something from one of his Neverland books, to cheer her up. "Remember how Pacifica's shadow used to elude her? and go out into the world in search of a lonely child to take to Neverland? Pacifica would, of course, teach them her ways, and they would never have to grow up. There is no need to be worried. No expectations. Simply put. . .they were all free. And in the first book she has her pan flute, and the music could only be heard by the children who did not feel at home. Without a question, the first book is my favorite on out of the five."
"Yeah, probably even mine." Mabel grins and turns to him. "I'm not sure if it's just me, but I believe you have a special love for her. You do realize she's a fictional character, right?" She said with a laugh.
Dipper laughs back a little. "I'm not in love with her. Yes, I realize she's a fictional character. But she's always there in my mind. What made you think I was smitten with her?" Dipper asks, a smirk on his face and a tint of blush on his cheeks.
Mabel leans on her arm, a silly grin on her face as she faces Dipper. "Do I have to repeat your third sentence again?"
Dipper chuckles and the blush stays on his face. "Alright, maybe when I was younger."
Mabel squealed like a young girl getting candy and when she realized what she did, she cleared her throat and collected herself. "I had a feeling you did." She grinned.
Mr. Gleeful, their father, entered the room with a severe glare after a few minutes of them cracking jokes and laughing. "Yes, father?" Mabel inquired.
"You two remember you're out of here by tomorrow, right? have you packed your belongings?" He says this while strolling across the room, coldly staring at them, and tapping his foot.
Dipper sighed, his head resting in his hand. "Yes, father. Every day, you remind us. We completed our preparations."
"That solves one of my issues." Their father grumbled, not caring if whether or not they heard, which they did.
His gaze was drawn to Dipper's dresser, where he placed his book. Dipper, like Mabel, had his collectible Neverland books since he was ten years old and taught himself to read, and taught Mabel as well. Their parents told them that their money should be used on vital things. Clearly, their schooling was unimportant, despite the fact that they are just eighteen years old and entering the real world in just a day without any knowledge.
"Can you tell me what that is?" He shouted while stomping over to the book and grabbing it.
"It's nothing. It's just some random novel I found in the basement, nothing special." Dipper said as he was attempting the grab the book.
